Albums in Stores – July 22nd, 2016

Relient K’s new album, Air for Free, comes out today, and I totally think it’s worth giving a spin. I think they bounced back in a big way with this one. I’m not sure what else to check out today, so if you have some recommendations for me, please let me know. If you hit read more you can see all the releases we have in our calendar for the week. Albums in Stores – July 15th, 2016

The biggest release this week relevant to those of us that grew up in the late 90’s is probably the new one from Good Charlotte. I’m actually a little surprised I enjoyed it as much as I have. I’m going to give that Needtobreathe album a spin as well since I liked the interview we did with them on the site. It’s an interesting week for releases — not a whole lot I’m dying to check out. I’ll give that Biffy Clyro album a spin and the new Switchfoot is pretty good. I’ve heard good things about Frameworks from Drew, and I’ll see if that The Avalanches record sits at all. If you hit read more you can see all the releases we have in our calendar for the week. So the obvious release of the day is the new album from Blink-182. It’s out, I think it’s pretty damn good, but now you can listen and judge for yourself. I’ve heard good things about that Blood Orange album, so that’s next on my list to check out. That American Authors album is basically having candy for breakfast, so if you’re in the mood for sugar — give that a try as well. My favorite album coming out today is the new one from Direct Hit!, definitely give that a look if you’re looking for a good summer pop-punk album. I’m liking the new Tegan and Sara album, I’m not sure I love it yet, but it’s been getting quite a few spins from me. I’ll be checking out that Whitney album as well, I’ve heard good things. Well, this is one hell of a great day for music. We’ve got Thrice, The Hotelier, and PUP releasing new albums and I think that they’re all great in different ways. Take your time with each, dive in, and let them dominate your ears for the next few months. If you hit read more you can see all the releases we have in our calendar for the week. This week sees the release of Ariana Grande’s Dangerous Woman and Saosin’s Along the Shadow, two albums that couldn’t be further apart but I greatly enjoy. I’m looking forward to checking out that Tiny Moving Parts album and, of course, giving the new Bob Dylan a listen as well. It’s a good week for new releases: that Modern Baseball album is being well received, I am looking forward to diving into the new one from The Living End, and I’m sure everyone’s going to be watching how Pierce the Veil charts next week. On top of that, David Bazan, Astronautalis, and Hatebreed all have new albums out, and are we still pretending 3OH!3 are relevant? I hope not. I’m assuming most of the music world is going to be talking about Drake’s new release, Views, today, but I also think that Pity Sex and Holy Ghost! releases are worth taking a look at. It would seem at first glance that the big releases today are Sorority Noise’s new EP, which Becky really liked, that new We Are Scientists release, and maybe that Grey album or the fact that The Fall of Troy released an album earlier this week? I’m not sure what I’m going to check out first. If you hit read more you can see all the releases we have in our calendar for the week. The album release day right before Record Store Day is always a tough one to navigate — looking over the new releases and trying to figure out what you’re going to pick up over the weekend. All of this week’s releases can be found on our release date calendar, or below. I haven’t checked out anything that’s coming out today yet, is there anything I should definitely make sure to add to my list? I know Craig Manning highly recommends that Sturgill Simpson album.

Our first Friday with the new digs — not that I’ve had a lot of time to stay on top of upcoming releases the past few weeks. Our release date calendar was built to give you a listing of all the upcoming release dates in a clean and easy to browse format. I’ve also pulled out everything we’ve got on there that’s coming out today and put it below, and, of course, please check our forum thread for discussion on this week’s releases. I need to go make sure I check out that Explosions in the Sky album and see what people think about that Weezer release.

Albums in Stores – Feb. 5th, 2016

Ah, Friday … album release day. I’m still not really used to albums coming out on a Friday, it’s just not totally built into my bones yet. The biggest album release this week, in our corner of the world, has felt like Say Anything dropping I Don’t Think It Is. Personally, it’s not doing much for me. If you hit read more you can see all the releases we have in our calendar for the week. An open thread has been made in our forums to talk about what came out today, what albums you picked up, and to make mention of anything we may have missed. I hope everyone has a great weekend.
