Dashboard Confessional at Taste of Chaos 2016

Dashboard Confessional

The Taste of Chaos tour may be all wrapped up, but I was fortunate to be able to capture some images from their stop at the famous Red Rocks in Morrison, CO. I have been to quite a few shows here, but this one is at the top of my favorites, based on nostalgia alone.

Seeing the lineup of Dashboard Confessional, Taking Back Sunday, Saosin, and The Early November was surreal to say the least. Some of the first times I photographed many of these bands was in the early 2000’s, before radio or television had taken their careers to new levels. After seeing these bands in venues with only other bands, and maybe a few fans watching, it was amazing to see them on stage in one of most iconic venues in the world. I’m going to split these galleries up by the different bands, and today’s gallery is for Dashboard Confessional. You’ll find the photos below.

The Starting Line in Portland (Throwback Thursday)

The Starting Line - Photo Gallery

If I recall correctly, this “Throwback Thursday” gallery comes from the first time I ever photographed The Starting Line at the Roseland Ballroom in Portland, OR. I am pretty sure it was also their first national tour, and they were the opening band on a bill with New Found Glory, RX Bandits, and H2O.

It’s been interesting as I continue my deep dive into what seems like a never ending abyss of images; I sort through these boxes and struggle with where to even start. This week, when I came across these rolls of film, I realized these images would end up being a pretty sizable milestone for myself as a photographer. A few of the images from this night ended up being used on the album cover for The Starting Line’s release of The Early Years (We the People Sessions). You’ll find the full gallery below.

Ten Best Things We Saw At Shaky Knees Festival

A few weekends ago, I was able to attend Shaky Knees Festival in Atlanta, Georgia. In addition to being held in one of the best cities I have visited on the East Coast thus far, Shaky Knees also had the added benefit of putting on the most killer festival lineup this side of Riot Fest. With fantastic sets across all of the days and stages from the earliest Sunday doldrums (more on that later) to the main stage headlining acts. Below you’ll find my 10 favorite things from the festival along with some photos I took over the weekend.

Circa Survive Live in Denver (Throwback Thursday)

Circa Survive

For this week’s “Throwback Thursday,” I bring images captured of Circa Survive just a few years ago at the Ogden Theater in Denver, CO. I am probably one of the more atypical Anthony Green fans. I had never seen Circa perform live, and had never even listened to more than 15 seconds of their music before this night. And yet, Saosin’s Translating the Name was probably the most influential release for me in the early 2000’s. I know, I’m weird. However, getting to finally see Anthony perform was an experience. Anthony’s energy on stage is contagious. The moment he walks on stage you can just feel the aura he commands. I hope you enjoy this week’s gallery of some of my favorite images from that night.

Finch Live at Endfest (Throwback Thursday)

For this week’s “Throwback Thursday” gallery I wanted to go back into the archives to see what I had stored on film. That’s when I found an old box of photos from Finch playing at Endfest on June 22nd, 2002. I’d been looking for this box for a very long time. It’s insane to think that it has been 5,053 days, or 13 years and 10 months, since these images were captured. But what’s even more crazy to me is that it was a short three months after What it is to Burn was released. Finch were just becoming the it band of the moment and I still remember the day I first heard that album. You can find the gallery below and I hope these bring back some memories of the days when Drive-Thru Records ruled the world.

The Used Live in Denver, CO (Throwback Thursday)

The Used

As I talked with Jason about the transition from AbsolutePunk to Chorus, I started thinking about the impact that website had on me over the years. I thought about all the shows I shot under that little heart banner. As I sat looking at a pile of boxes filled with old film and prints from the past, I realized how sad it would be if these only lived in the cardboard coffins and were never shared with the world. So, I’m going to be posting some pictures from of my favorite shows over the next few weeks.

I’m stealing the “throwback Thursday” moniker, because, why not? This week I’m excited to share some images I captured of The Used at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver, CO on April 12th, 2015.
