Gerard Way Talks ‘Umbrella Academy”

Gerard Way

Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá sat down with Collider about their upcoming Netflix show:

What I did for Steve Blackman (the showrunner) and the writers in that first writers room was to create an eighteen page document that laid everything out. Even of the graphic novels that haven’t come out yet. Which should equal eight when we’re all done. So I gave them the blueprint for what happens, because you do want to seed certain things in there for future series and the hope is that it’s a success so that you do a lot more of these.

Travis Barker’s 1967 Cadillac Eldorado Headed To Auction

Travis Barker

Sam McEachern, writing a GM Authority:

The Blink 182 drummer bought this extensively modified Eldorado from well-known lowrider builder John D’Agostino, who built it at his Celebrity Kustoms shop in Discovery Bay, California. The list of modifications are too long to go over completely, but it has shaved door handles, an intricate custom ‘fade’ paint job, a custom upholstered interior and much, much more.

More photos of the Cadillac can be found on Sotheby’s website.

Coachella Enacting New Safety Policies

Coachella

Coachella is enacting a new initiative to fight assault and sexual harassment:

This year, Coachella announced its most thorough efforts yet to prevent and combat sexual harassment and assault. The program, which the Goldenvoice-produced festival is calling “Every One,” is a new endeavor comprised of fan resources and policies designed to not only prevent sexual misconduct but to improve how the festival deals with it.

Organizations and activists have long called for such policies and pressured events to work harder to fix these problems. Increasingly, those that stay silent are not only risking fan backlash but in danger of being out of step with today’s cultural climate.

AEG chairman, Philip Anschutz, who oversees Goldenvoice, is still out there pushing for the exact opposite with his political donations, however.

All Time Low Taking a Little Break in 2019

Alex Gaskarth of All Time Low talked with Kerrang about the band’s 2019 plans:

“We’re taking a bit of a break,” he tells Kerrang! of the band’s plans for the year. “For the last couple of records, we’ve done two-year-long cycles. With Last Young Renegade, it was winding down in the first half of 2018, but then we decided to put out [non-album singles] Birthday and Everything Is Fine, which revitalised that campaign and led to more dates on the calendar. That meant another six months was tacked on to what had already been a full album cycle. For us, it feels too soon to be properly thinking about the next record – I need to sleep for at least a fortnight straight! We need to figure out what’s next and what All Time Low should be doing going forward.”
