Another month has come to an end.

February brought the cold. We saw snow. We saw “feels like” temperatures that were just cruel for the Pacific Northwest. But the last few days have seen the return of the sun.

Cats, records, beer. Not a bad month.

February 2025

January: the month that refused to end.

It was cold.
Most days had multiple absurd news push notifications, because, well, you know.

But we’re still here.

I’m trying to spend this year not falling back into bad habits of doom scrolling and feeling like I need go know everything all the time. I’m letting myself pick and choose, and trying instead to focus on what I can control. Getting back into a daily workout routine, spending time with family and friends, listening to music, enjoying coffee and a good beer.

January 2025

I kind of can’t believe December has already come and gone. And with it, we’re on the precipice of a new year.

But December was full of warmth, comforts, and the presence of loved ones. We decorated the tree for the first time in our new place and began a bunch of new traditions I hope will continue for many years to come.

The cats sure enjoyed themselves.

And there’s the bow on 12 months.

December 2024

November remains undefeated.

A month of celebration, friends, family, and the leaves turning a perfect shade of red and gold.

It’s cliche, sure, but I’m reminded of how much in my life I have to be thankful for.

November 2024

That month sure went quick. 🎃

October was spent continuing to move into our new home, finalizing unpacking, ordering and putting in new furniture, and making the place feel more like “ours.” The little touches of absurd nerdery helped. We took some time to visit pumpkin patches, attend my sister’s annual Halloween party, and I (shocking, I know) even found time to spin a few records. We’re one dining room table delivery and a window covering install away from being pretty much done with the move. And I’m really looking forward to things settling down and finding a routine again; especially as we move into my favorite time of the year.

October 2024

A lot can happen in a month.

We officially packed up and moved out of the city at the start of the month and have spent the last three weeks unpacking and trying to find a new semblance of routine. Moving was stressful and bittersweet. Saying goodbye to the condo and where the last 12 years of my life have been spent was hard. But, just the same, falling in love with the new home and all the space we now have has been well worth it. And waking up to the view? Pretty special. Getting used to the quiet and not having the ever present hum of the city has been interesting. And slowly getting things setup again so they feel like home has taken just about every spare second. But we’re getting closer and my office space got completed this weekend. More to do, lots more to do, but we’re well on our way now.

September 2024

August has been a whirlwind. After 12 years living downtown Hannah and I decided it was time to move. After months of talking about it, we finally made the call and put the condo on the market. In a strange twist of fate, we found a home we loved and got an offer on the condo the exact same weekend. And so the month has been spent packing. Preparing. Saying goodbye to my favorite place I’ve ever lived. Where my life changed and I discovered myself. I’m ready for the next steps, and we’re now a week away from the big move. Wish us luck.

August 2024

July.

Fireworks. Heat. An absolutely incredible concert experience that lifted my heart. Hannah ran some races. I drank some beer.

July 2024

June flew by. A month of birthdays to celebrate and wonderful weather to experience. Lots of great food and great wine. Summer is here and it’s glorious.

June 2024

May in Portland flips between gorgeous and rain. But it’s starting to lean a little more toward the former and I’m definitely here for it. The month was busy, went by too fast, but ain’t that always the way.

May 2024

April showers…

It was a month defined by travel. A business trip in the middle of the month to Mexico City, and Hannah off to California at the end of the month. But around the chaos of airports there was still a lot of good music, good friends, and some good weather. Let’s hope for more of that in May.

April 2024

March represented one more trip around the sun. And just at the tail end we started to see it peek its head out again; I’m ready to put the rain in the rear view mirror. Good drinks, good music, good walks, great time with family and friends.

March 2024

February brought (slightly) better weather, some great music, some good books, an incredible concert, and quite a few lovely weekend walks capped off with a perfect beer. And we were able to celebrate Valentine’s Day and my mom’s (long-deserved) retirement.

February 2024

The year started by throwing a few wrenches our way. The wind and ice storm shut down the city for a few days, but at least we kept power the whole time. This led to a lot of nights sitting by the fire with warm drinks and catching up on some long overdue reading. Not a bad way to spend a winter evening.

And the music year started off strong.

Let’s hope for less chaotic weather in February.

January 2024

It’s always one of my favorite times of the year, but this year felt extra special. I’ve loved each evening when the lights turned on and slowly filled the house with gold.

A wonderful December with friends, family, and the two cats. We ate lots of good food, our annual Christmas party had all sorts of fun news and life changes from our friends, and we attempted ice skating for the first time in over a decade. And, of course, we listened to a lot of Christmas music.
