Hedley Fans Target Tattoo Artist After She Offered to Cover Up Band Art for Free

Tattoo

Emma Prestwich, writing for HuffPost:

A Toronto tattoo artist says she is weary of the backlash after she offered to cover up tattoos related to B.C. band Hedley for free. […] “I’m just a tattoo artist who wanted to do a nice thing, and it is incredibly overwhelming fielding all the anger.”

People have accused her of trying to get attention for her business, taking advantage of a “shitty situation,” and criticized her for believing anonymous accusations.

John Travolta, Fred Durst Start Shooting on Stalker Thriller ‘Moose’

Dave McNary, writing for Variety:

Principal photography is now underway in Alabama on the thriller “Moose,” starring John Travolta with Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst directing for Ambi Media Group.

Based on events from Durst’s own life, “Moose” was written by Durst with Dave Bekerman. Travolta is playing the title character, a rabid movie fan obsessed with his favorite celebrity action hero, portrayed by Devon Sawa. As Moose’s obsession grows stronger, his fixation turns from stalking to ambition of destroying the star’s life — a story inspired by a real-life fan who stalked Durst many years ago.

Disgraced Fyre Festival Organizer Spent $150k on a Yacht for Blink-182

Blink-182

Page Six:

Infamous Fyre Festival promoter Billy McFarland may have neglected to budget for toilets, but he still managed to drop more than $150,000 on a yacht for the band Blink-182, according to documents obtained by The Post.

McFarland — who’s facing wire fraud charges and a rash of civil cases over the nightmarish music festival in the Bahamas that ended up serving cold cheese sandwiches and forcing guests to live in tents — shelled out $160,000 for the planned headliner’s perk last April, according to his bank statements and a federal source with intimate knowledge of the case.

There’s going to be a nuts documentary made about this entire thing in a few years.

Bon Jovi Tops The Charts

Bon Jovi has the number one album in the country this week:

The set re-enters the tally with 120,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending March 1, according to Nielsen Music, up from a negligible figure in the previous week. Essentially all of its sum is traditional album sales. The surge back to No. 1 is owed nearly entirely to sales generated by a concert ticket/album sale redemption offer with Bon Jovi’s upcoming U.S. arena tour.

The Lottery Hackers

Math

Jason Fagone, writing for HuffPost:

So perhaps it was only fitting that at age 64, Jerry found himself contemplating that most alluring of puzzles: the lottery. He was recently retired by then, living with Marge in a tiny town called Evart and wondering what to do with his time. After stopping in one morning at a convenience store he knew well, he picked up a brochure for a brand-new state lottery game. Studying the flyer later at his kitchen table, Jerry saw that it listed the odds of winning certain amounts of money by picking certain combinations of numbers.

That’s when it hit him. Right there, in the numbers on the page, he noticed a flaw—a strange and surprising pattern, like the cereal-box code, written into the fundamental machinery of the game.

These kinds of stories suck me in like no other.

Amazon Is Complicit With Counterfeiting

amazon

Casey Hopkins, from Elevation Lab (makers of quite a few products I really like), has posted a blog about how Amazon is complicit in helping promote counterfeiters:

When someone goes to the lengths of making counterfeits of your products, it’s at least a sign you’re doing something right. And it deserves a minute of flattery.

But when Chinese counterfeiters tool up and make copies of your product, send that inventory to Amazon, then overtake the real product’s buy box by auto-lowering the price – it’s a real problem. Customers are unknowingly buying crap versions of the product, while both Amazon and the scammers are profiting, and the reputation you’ve built goes down the toilet.

I have their headphone anchor under my desk and it’s fantastic.

Iheart Media

Bloomberg:

Embattled iHeartMedia Inc. is circulating documents for a bankruptcy filing that could come as soon as this weekend for the biggest U.S. radio broadcaster.

Advisers to some of iHeart’s senior creditors have been shown bankruptcy papers that would be used on the first day of court proceedings, according to people with knowledge of the matter.

Two Members of Pussy Riot Reportedly Missing

Pussy Riot

Newsweek is reporting that two members of Pussy Riot have gone missing:

Two members of Pussy Riot, the all-female Russian punk rock band from Moscow known for their provocative protest lyrics and colorful balaclavas, disappeared on Tuesday while traveling from the Crimean Peninsula to Moscow. […] The women were allegedly in Crimea to protest the detention of filmmaker Oleg Sentsov, who is serving a 20-year sentence on terrorism charges that many say are politically motivated.

Update: They have been found.
