McMahon experienced this first hand at 22, when he was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia during the peak of his career as the lead singer of the alternative band Jack’s Mannequin.  Last year marked the 15-year anniversary of the stem cell transplant that saved his life and since then he has dedicated himself to helping adolescent and young adults suffering from this illness.

McMahon is currently in the middle of his US Headline Tour.  His debut memoir, Three Pianos, was released on October 26th, 2021 published by Princeton Architectural Press.  Three Pianos takes readers through McMahon’s quintessentially American story of realizing his dreams, set against the backdrop of life’s darkest challenges.
