The Dear Hunter Announce New Album

The Dear Hunter will release their new album, Antimai, on July 1st. Today they’ve shared “Ring 7 – Industry.”

The summer of 2022, will see the long-awaited release of The Dear Hunter’s new album Antimai. Fans of the prog-rock band have a lot to look forward to in the coming months, including the band’s return to Summer Camp in June, a collaborative effort in partnership with Music Masters Collective. Friday, The Dear Hunter announced their forthcoming album Antimai will release on July 1st. The first single of the brand new record “Ring 7 - Industry” premiered last week alongside the announcement.

“We are thrilled to formally announce our new record Antimai, coming out July 1st. Within the concept of The Indigo ChildAntimai acts as an atlas of the fictional world’s last remaining metropolis, exploring its social hierarchy from the outside in,” says founding member Casey Crescenzo of the new album and its relation to the band’s last release The Indigo Child (2021).

Previously, the band teased Antimai alongside the announcement of their summer tour, where The Dear Hunter will perform the record in its entirety. The summer tour begins July 28th, a few weeks after the album’s release, and will see the band tour from coast to coast over the course of a month. Alongside the full performance of the new album, the band will turn to their fanbase to determine the remainder of their set list. Fans will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite songs from The Dear Hunter to round out their set list.

Antimai marks the first full length album from the band in nearly seven years. The new single “Ring 7 - Industry” is the first glimpse into the new music. Crescenzo explains, “we first began playing this song in late 2019, touring an unfinished version in the hopes of slowly introducing listeners to the sound of an album we’d hoped to release the following year. Having recorded a majority of our instrumentation in January and early February of 2020, we took a short break with the intent of reconvening in mid March to wrap up work.” He continues, “Things evolved as they did, and the record’s future became more and more uncertain with the decreasing likelihood of a traditional promotional/touring cycle ahead. But what started as a demoralizing situation slowly metamorphosed into an amazing opportunity to revisit the record with a completely fresh perspective. And slowly, piece by piece, we completed Antimai without any concern of when, or if, it would ever be heard—focusing solely on making a record we wanted to listen to.”

The Dear Hunter is currently touring the UK on a headlining run. They will return to the US for Summer Camp next month, before the album release and then embark on a full national tour.

Preorders for the new record are on sale now, with various bundles including limited edition vinyl, cassette tapes, a collectible action figure, and more.
