American Television – “Witches!” (Video Premiere)

American Television

Today I’m thrilled to bring everyone the latest single and music video from DC punk band, American Television, called “Witches!”. On this Halloween-themed video American Television re-created the original video, shot-for-shot, for their key single from their new EP, You Are Not Alone, for the spooky holiday. The band shared, “Steve has been talking about doing a Halloween version of a music video for years. Since our EP dropped in September, we thought, ‘what better time to indulge his intrusive thoughts, than to come back around a month after the EP release with a witchy version of ‘Witches!’?’ With a little extra effort at the shoot, we were able to create this near shot-for-shot recreation of the original – strangely enough, the final cut of this video was cranked out after 3am, better known as the witching hour.” If you’re enjoying the new video, please consider supporting this punk band that is signed to Smartpunk Records by checking out their new EP here.

Interview: American Television

American Television

This past month, I was able to schedule a Zoom call with DC-based punk rock band, American Television, to discuss their upcoming EP, You Are Not Alone. In this interview, I asked the band members about their writing process, what to make of DC’s current political situation, their past touring experience, and much more. The band is playing a record release show at Jammin Java in Vienna, Virginia next month, and tickets are on sale here. Also, pre-orders are on-going for You Are Not Alone over at Smartpunk Records.

Review: American Television – Scars

Does the world really need another politically-charged punk band? When the tunes that come through the speakers are as slick, fine-tuned, and as hard-hitting as what DC-punk band American Television put forth on Scars, the answer is a resounding “yes!” American Television is comprised of lead vocalist/guitarist Steve Rovery, lead guitarist/backing vocalist Jerred Lazar, bassist Edwin Wikfors, and drummer Bryan Flowers, and their band chemistry continues to improve on their sophomore record here. Having shared stages with veteran punk bands like Spanish Love Songs, The Copyrights, and Piebald, American Television are armed with a packed repertoire of feel-good anthems about fighting the status quo. At a time when democracy seems to be teetering on the brink of collapse, this band have added their powerful voices to the good fight.

American Television – “Snakes” (Video Premiere)

American Television

Today I’m excited to bring everyone a great new single and video from D.C. punk rock band, American Television, called “Snakes.” On this emotionally charged punk song, the band highlight their knack for slick hooks, improved songwriting, and crisp musicianship. The band shared, “We hope for the best from any person we vote into office, as they frontload their promises to the people. But if history has told us anything, they’ll backpedal. Yet, somehow, there’s always money for the war machine. The snakes are all around.” With a sound that fits somewhere within the political punk rock of Anti-Flag, paired with the memorable songwriting of Green Day, American Television could be your next favorite band. If you’re enjoying “Snakes,” please consider pre-ordering their new LP, Scars, that releases on September 22nd via A-F Records here.
