Mark Hoppus sat down with 97X to talk about Blink-182’s new album and mentioned that at one point they thought of leaving the album untitled, again:
We’d originally not wanted to call it anything, and were maybe thinking about just not titling it at all – but we already did that once, so we didn’t know if we should call it ‘Extra Untitled’ or what. So we’re like ‘let’s just call this what number album this is’, and depending on which you think is our first album and which you include, this is nine.
Alan Siegel, writing at The Ringer:
The story of Enema of the State, however, isn’t solely one about Blink-182’s big break. It’s also, like much of the most memorable pop music from 1999, about the perfect marriage of artist and producer as well as the profound influence of MTV. And yes, the tale contains plenty of gratuitous nudity.
This is a fun piece.
Mark Hoppus confirmed on Reddit the meaning behind Blink-182’s new album title:
NINE. this is our ninth album, as decided by me and travis. some count buddha, some not. some count the mark tom and travis show. some count greatest hits. some count dogs eating dogs. i’m counting buddha, cheshire cat, dude ranch, enema of the state, toypaj, untitled, neighborhoods, califronia, and now NINE. nine is also the number of universal love. and the number of uranus. remember to like and smash that subscribe button, or whatever it is the kids say now.

According to multiple reports on Twitter, Lil Wayne cut his set short tonight after only a few songs, said the crowd wasn’t for him, and apparently he may be leaving the tour with Blink-182.
I’ll update this post with more information as it comes in.
Update: A video of Lil Wayne’s speech has been uploaded online. No word official announcement has been made from either Blink-182 or Lil Wayne’s camp so far.
Update #2: Lil Wayne has announced on Twitter that he will not be leaving the tour, writing, “Yesterday was krazy! But I want all my fans to know I won’t be quitting this tour! I’m having too much fun with my bros blink-182.”

Travis Barker is the latest guest on Kerwin Frost’s show. He talks about Blink-182 possibly releasing an EP later this year, and that will be the release that has the song the band did with Lil Uzi Vert and Pharrell Williams on it.
“Adam’s Song” still resonates a lot with me. I still struggle with dark times and that song is a statement about that. Going back and replaying all these songs and relearning these songs I still feel like they’re a statement as relevant today as it was back then. I feel like Enema Of The State was really when Blink found its legs and found our sound with the addition of Travis. Jerry Finn being our producer really helped us focus and try and write great songs instead of just trying to write fast songs. And it felt like everybody was really firing. I look back to the rehearsal spot in San Diego we wrote this record in and everybody came in every single day with just throwing ideas out, “What about this? What about this?” And it was everybody’s best work at the same time. So I love it.
