New Interview With Matt Thiessen

Relient K

Matt Thiessen mentions that he’s been writing but there’s no current plan for Relient K to enter the studio in a new interview:

”I’ve been musing over what the set is going to look like for us,” Thiessen said of the songs they’ll play. “I know we’ll definitely play songs from (the album) ‘Mmhmm.’ I think I want to keep the show as casual and fun as possible.”

From there, the future of the band seems to be pretty loose and open.

”I’d love to record some new music and keep playing shows,” Thiessen said.

”I’ve been working on lots of new songs, but as of now, we don’t have any plans to get into the studio.”

Relient K Perform New Song at Surprise Show

Relient K

Relient K played a free show at Nashville diner over the weekend. They also debuted the new song “Over My Head.”

They ran through a stacked setlist: Classics like “Be My Escape,” “Who I Am Hates Who I’ve Been,” “Sadie Hawkins Dance,” “High of 75,” and “Chap Stick, Chapped Lips, and Things Like Chemistry” were all there. But they also surprised diehards with deeper cuts like the rarely performed “Jefferson Aero Plane” and a warm, lingering closer: “Savannah.”

Rookie of The Year (featuring Relient K) – “Fast Car” (Song Premiere)

Rookie of the Year

Today I’m thrilled to bring everyone a blazing new summer pop anthem from Rookie of the Year called “Fast Car.” The song features a great cameo from Relient K’s Matthew Thiessen, and the track comes from the album, What A Beautiful Mess, due out at the end of the year. The band shared, “We recorded this song in Nashville with Dave Elkins of the band Mae. Super excited how it came out! We will be playing it this month when we hit the road with Spitalfield and Valencia.” If you’re enjoying the new song, you can pre-save it here.
