Mario Universe Hard Drive Icons
LMNT:
The cast of characters in the Super Mario universe is vast. Insetting their badges on low-poly, color-coded Super Mario blocks makes hard drives look super fun. My only regret is not having 34 drives to use them all!
Oh, wow, these are great.
I have some errands to run this morning (haircut!) and then we have Valentine’s Day dinner reservations this evening. So, I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get to writing a newsletter today or if it will have to wait.
Big Thursday kick this week.
A Better Simple Streaming Music Sharing Page
When I debuted the “share music page” in 2019, it was really just something I wanted for myself. I wanted a better way to be able to share music in my newsletter so that people could easily find the albums on their preferred streaming platform. But over the past few years I’ve heard from so many people that have used the page to share music with their friends and family as well. I see thousands of songs and albums in the database. To see a small personal project grow to be used by others is the biggest compliment.
As I wrote about last week, I’ve been working on improving my personal blog as a way to keep myself busy and away from doomscrolling. It’s been a fun nightly project to add some new features and start posting more photo and micro blogs when inspiration strikes. The first time I posted an update about something I was listening to I just knew I needed to find a way to combine my sharing project and my blog.
So I did.

I'm really loving this (kinda new) Heartwork album, 'Revisionist History,' this week. Listen: https://chorus.fm/share/alb...
Yeah, that’s a pretty nice mail day. ‘Dyed’ is definitely one of my favorites of the year so far (and I had to grab that covers album).
I wrote a script a while back to calculate the number of words (and articles) I've written on this website. I use it at the end of the year to put the stats in my EOTY post. On February 1st, 2025 I decided to run it on my entire posting history. The results:
25,212 articles published
2,551,146 words written
That includes articles going all the way back to April 2002. You know, I do think it's a little poetic the first posts are about Midtown. (As cringe-inducing as re-reading them is.) Pretty sobering to think about writing over two million words though.
2/9/25 (Ten Songs)
Ten songs is a weekly playlist from Jason Tate featuring songs enjoyed over the previous week. It is included in every edition of the Liner Notes newsletter and is free to sign up for via email.
This playlist is available on Spotify and Apple Music.

This week’s newsletter has thoughts on stepping back from social media and revitalizing my personal blog. There’s also some commentary on music I’ve been enjoying recently and this week’s supporter Q&A post can be found here.
If you’d like this newsletter delivered to your inbox each week (it’s free and available to everyone), you can sign up here.

Most listened to last week.
That Underoath album is under embargo until next Friday, so the plan will be to write more about it in next week’s newsletter. I hope to write a longer newsletter this weekend after some errands and a friend’s birthday get together.
Finally framed this signed New Found Glory drumhead. Now I just need to find some office wall space for it.
Favorite thing I heard today was the new Matt Nathanson album. Listen: https://chorus.fm/share/alb...
