Emily Blue

Emily Blue is a pop singer from Chicago whose music is catchy and perfect for summertime. Her new song, “Bad Decisions,” is all about making the choice to not lead a mundane life, even if some of those decisions wind up being bad. The song follows her 2018 EP *69 and we’re thrilled to be premiering it today. Give it a listen below and it might just become one of your favorite songs of the summer.

Russian Girlfriends – “Redfield” (Video Premiere)

Russian Girlfriends

From Albuquerque, New Mexico, Russian Girlfriends and I are excited to premiere their new music video for the single, “Redfield.” Rich with religious imagery detailing lead vocalist Adam Hooks’ realizations that his upbringing as a pastor’s son may not be the best fit in his personal life, this video rocks with the immediacy of bands such as The Bouncing Souls and Anti-Flag.

Chorus TV: Punchline

Punchline

Punchline’s most recent tour found them supporting their longtime friends and influencers, Less Than Jake. The Pittsburgh, PA quartet performed a half hour of catchy tunes, from early fan favorite “Heart Transplants” to material from their latest album, Lion, along with a cover of Operation Ivy’s “Sound System” for the ska loyalists.

Enjoy their full set live from College Street Music Hall in New Haven, CT on April 16, 2019.

Interview: Hannah Joy of Middle Kids

Middle Kids

Earlier this month, I was able to catch up with Hannah Joy (singer/guitarist) of the indie rock band, Middle Kids before they played a sold out show at the legendary 9:30 Club in Washington, DC. During our conversation, Hannah shared the band’s approach to creating a memorable set of songs for their live shows, the process that goes into writing their music, as well updates on the progress of their second full-length album. Middle Kids recently released New Songs For Old Problems on Domino Records, and the EP is available for purchase wherever music is sold.

Moss Jaw – “What Is Your Composition?” (Video Premiere)

Moss Jaw

Moss Jaw dropped their debut Embody this past April, and it’s one of the more unique albums I’ve heard this year. An ambitious blend of emo, punk, dream pop, and slowcore, it’s the sort of genre roulette LP bands don’t usually attempt until they’ve established themselves a bit more, but it pays off in spades for the Kalamazoo, MI, four-piece. Case in point is “What Is Your Composition?,” the band’s latest single, the J Ludeker-directed video for which we’re excited to bring you today. Check that out below and be sure to give Embody a listen if you like what you hear.

Limited Edition Pride Logo Version of Chorus.fm Merch

Chorus.fm Pride Merch

Today I’m excited to launch a special limited edition collection of Chorus.fm Pride Merch. I’ve created a new LGBTQ+ pride rainbow version of the Chorus.fm logo and it’s up on a variety of t-shirts, tanks, v-necks, hoodies, mugs, and more.

I don’t make much money from the merch shop (like $3-$4 per shirt), but for the rest of this month I’m going to donate 82% of what I do make from the entire store (not just this collection) to LGBTQ+ organizations and charities.1

All the merch comes in variety of t-shirt sizes, colors, and types (if you’re curious about the brand of t-shirts printed on, you can find that information here).

Check out the pride collection here.

Enema of the State

In this week’s newsletter I reminisce on the 20 year anniversary of Blink-182’s Enema of the State, talk a bit more about The Dangerous Summer and everyone’s reactions to hearing the new songs, and share the three bands I’ll buy anything from before hearing a note of music. Then I go through my usual music, movies, and TV rundown of stuff I enjoyed this week. There’s also a playlist of ten songs I liked this week and this week’s supporter Q&A post can be found here.
