Gerard Way Begins Working on New Music

Gerard Way

Gerard Way will soon be working on new music:

Now, onto the music. It is far too early to have any kind of idea when new music will be coming out from me, or what it will be specifically. Would it be a solo record? A new band? Songs for the Netflix Umbrella Academy show? Something else? Again, too early to tell, but the process has started and happens every Friday at the moment. I’m in the discovery phase, and very excited about that. I’m off to make some sounds— see you soon!

Gerard Way Opens Up a Little More About My Chemical Romance

My Chemical Romance

Gerard Way recently talked with iNews:

“It’s a tricky thing, because you have four guys that really get along, and I think we all fully understand each other now and love each other,” he says.

“We all got together recently and it was wonderful – we didn’t even talk about the band or playing shows again. I don’t know if anything will happen in the future, but what I do know is everyone has a really great life right now.”

Gerard Way Talks With PopBuzz

Gerard Way

Gerard Way recently talked with PopBuzz:

Well I now have a studio. I have this, like, compound type situation where I have a place to record live music and I have a place to record music in a control room and then a place to work on my art projects and my comics. I just kind of, right now, have so many comics due and so many comics to write that I’ve just been doing that. I’ve been trying to fit music in but I’ve just started to kind of write music. So that’s starting, it’s at a very early stage.

Gerard Way Talks to Nerdist

Gerard Way

Gerard Way sat down with the Nerdist, he spoke a little about the influence Chester Bennington had on his life:

His band and bringing us on tour, that changed my life. I met my wife. We have an amazing life now and a daughter. My memories of that period and meeting Linds again are tied into Chester and his band. It’s so sad. I think a lot about mental health and it’s something I’ve always wanted to address in Doom Patrol, so I definitely think we’ll see a lot more of that now. I’ve been through depression, dark times, and therapy. I can really apply that stuff to these characters.

Netflix has given a 10-episode order to The Umbrella Academy, a live-action series based on the popular graphic novels by Gerard Way (My Chemical Romance) and illustrated by Gabriel Bá. Gerard Way Talks with Billboard

Gerard Way

Gerard Way talked to Billboard about his upcoming work with comics, and mentioned in passing a little about My Chemical Romance:

“I wouldn’t count (a reunion) out, but at the same time everybody’s doing stuff in their lives now that they’re really enjoying,” Way says. “In some ways I don’t really miss it; It had gotten so big it was very unwieldy. It took a toll on my mental life and personal life. The thing I’m happiest about right now is everybody’s relationships with each other are really strong. That’s more important than anything else to me.”

And a second solo album:

Way is also starting to eyeball a second solo album, with “a bunch of stuff I’ve written over the past couple of years” already in motion. “I’m just about to seriously figure out my schedule in terms of how many weeks I’m writing comics and how many weeks I’m writing music,” Way explains. “There’s a plan to put something out; I don’t know when that’ll come, but the process is starting.”

Gerard Way Blogs About 2017 Plans

Gerard Way

Gerard Way has posted an update on his website for his plans in 2017. It looks like we’ll be getting some new music along with all the other creative shit Gerard always thinks up:

Music—I’ll start with my music. I am always writing music, I am very lucky that way—there is always an idea and something that inspires me, even if it takes me a minute to figure out what I want to say, which is what really creates the space between releases. I am about to convert a structure on our property into a recording studio, which actually won’t take a lot of work as the space is already pretty perfect. Great drums sounds and church ceilings. Secret echo chambers. I look forward to making some really weird stuff here, and mine for the really hard to get diamonds.

Gerard Way Talks With Comicbook.com

Gerard Way

Comicbook.com spoke with Gerard Way and Jon Rivera about “Young Animal” the DC Comics imprint he’s in charge of. There is a small mention at the end about the whole teaser ordeal from the past week.

The video, I don’t really like to talk about just because we’re not that involved in it, and to be honest we didn’t realize that there wasn’t additional information coming out with that, which is why we asked the label to clarify.
