Matt Skiba on Mark Hoppus’s Radio Show

Blink-182

Matt Skiba joined Mark Hoppus on the latest episode of his After School Radio show.

That’s exactly how I feel. Everything is where it should be. I had an incredible time with blink. I’m honoured to have been a part of the band. I’m proud of the work we did together. I had such a blast touring with you guys and I feel like the time came where Tom came back and it couldn’t have worked out more perfectly or more amicably. When I do interviews, people always want this dirt that doesn’t exist. It’s all love man. We really had a great time. These guys found their way back to each other and it’s what fans want, it is what the band needs. As far as Alkaline Trio is concerned, that’s my home and my family and when I was with blink that was my home and my family. But the time came and I feel like all is right in our respective and collective worlds.

Matt Skiba Talks With Music Radar

Matt Skiba of Blink-182 talked with Music Radar:

I’m not doing something I haven’t ever done before; it’s just on a different scale and with different guys. I’m really lucky that lightning struck twice in my life. When all is said and done, it was a pretty easy transition. Yes, there were moments of total terror and panic, but that’s life. That’s just wanting to do a great job.

And:

We had a group of songs that we still may or may not use, I don’t know. There’s way more material than just what is on the deluxe record; there’s a whole other record’s worth of material that I personally thought sounded too much like Alkaline Trio.

That’s how I write; it’s hard to change. It’s like you can’t just change your fingerprint. We discussed the record at length and made sure that we didn’t just really like it, we had to love it. You can’t put something out that is anything short of true love and true pride.

Matt Skiba Talks With Vice

Hannah Ewens interviewed Matt Skiba of Blink-182 over at Vice:

I’m a bookworm, so I read about a book a month. The last great book I read, actually, Mark [Hoppus] gave to me. There’s this writer called Erik Larson that we both love, and he wrote Devil in the White City. It’s all non-fiction, and Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio are making the film version of it. It’s about the first serial killer in America. Read it, do yourself a favour.
