The 1975 have released their new video for “The Sound” on YouTube. The video includes real quotes from past critical reviews of the band. Their brilliant new album is also now available on Apple Music. Over the years when writing about music I’ve come across bands that I think are special, that have it, and that find their way into rarefied air in my music collection. This is one of those bands. This is one of those albums. I hope it means as much to everyone that hears it as it has to me.

“I’m Not Wearing Hockey Pads”

Boston Dynamics have released a new video of their robot, Atlas, which can walk on two legs, open doors, stack boxes, and handle being pushed around by dudes with sticks. I had two thoughts while watching this: First, “oh great, like the robots aren’t going to remember this one day.” And two, that maybe I’d been watching too much Humans, because I felt this ping of empathy for what I know is a machine.

The Matches – “Life of a Match” (Director’s Cut)

The Matches

The Matches have (sorta) returned and graced us with new music, and it only seems right that we get a music video to go along with it. While the band released a version of the video a few weeks ago, we’ve got the group’s directors cut. They’ve dropped the lyrics from the video and added a little tweak for good measure. Anti-Flag – “Fabled World” (Single Premiere)

Anti-Flag are now ten albums into their career, but there’s no shortage of ire from the current social and political climate to fuel the punk iconoclasts. This is made a evident by the first single, “Fabled World,” for which you can watch the new video in the replies. The aggressive political punk anthem appears on American Spring, which drops on May 26th via Spinefarm Records.

Yesterday was the ten year anniversary of Yellowcard’s breakthrough album, Ocean Avenue. On August 13th, the band will be releasing a special acoustic album featuring all thirteen Ocean Avenue tracks. Today, we’re premiering the first video from Ocean Avenue Acoustic of the song that changed everything for the band – “Ocean Avenue.” I’ve been listening to the acoustic album for a little while now and each song is incredibly well-done, with this track being one of the standouts.
