Strings & Things

The Equinox is finally here. For those of us in the Northern hemisphere, warm weather is finally making way for warm drinks, and the hairs on our arms are soon to stand in protest for more layers. And for those of you in the Southern hemisphere… well, now might be a good time to double back to some of the earlier seasonal playlists from this year. Happy Track Listing! In this early autumn time of year, I tend to find a lot of orchestral strings, keys, and gentle bass lines entering my musical lexicon. The indie stuff gets a little more moody and gentle, while the energetic rock stuff picks up a bit more atmosphere. So for September, I went straight for the stuff that pairs best with your first warm cider — or pumpkin spice latte, if that’s your thing. The Go Find and Jay Som make their marks with tracks tailor made for your favorite coffee shop visit, while Moving Mountains and El Ten Eleven handle a few of the extended-outro rainy day tunes. Get ready to greet the final quarter of the year, and tune in next month as we descend even further into sweater weather.
