Finally. This is a holy grail addition to the collection for me, an album I’ve wanted and been chasing for years.

Having this in my hands has made my entire week. One of my favorite albums of the last decade, easily one of my most played, and a modern classic.

Bringing Blogging Back

As part of my desire to start blogging (in all forms) more, I’ve connected this blog to my forum account so that posts here will be posted as status updates there as well. If all goes well, this will be the first to sync! Just another way people can follow along as I try and move away from social media and focus more on my little place on the internet.

Review: Zaq Baker – Unspectacular

There’s a lot that can be said about novels that are filled with sharp wit, cheeky dialogue, and relatable storylines to maintain key connections to the material. Zaq Baker has recently released his debut novel, called Unspectacular, that takes a look at a character named Mae Strand who is somewhat pursuing a career as a vocalist. One particular line in the middle section of the novel states, “Some people say water maintains memory, holds it inside, safeguards it, can transport it across places and peoples. This is how I feel about music – recorded music especially. Albums, after all, live forever.” This nice quip is easily relatable for me, personally, but I feel a lot of music fans would also identify in quotes like this. Baker’s ability to mix just the right amount of believability and characters similar to many in the music industry may have come across makes for a memorable reading experience.

Spotify Reports First Full-Year Profit

The Wall Street Journal:

Spotify Technology reported its first ever full year of profitability, fueled by record user growth and austerity measures after years of heavy spending on growth initiatives such as podcasts.

Its fourth-quarter earnings are a sign that the company has been able to wean itself off years of intense investment and transform from a music-streaming service with tough margins to a full-service audio company.

Shares in the company rose 10%, and are up about 29% on the year.

“It only took 18 years for us to get here, but we’re here,” Chief Executive Daniel Ek said in an interview.
