Tightwire – “I Need You Here Tonight” (Song Premiere)

Today I’m thrilled to bring everyone the latest single from Tightwire called “I Need You Here Tonight.” The song comes from the Red Scare Industries split EP with fellow punk rockers Canadian Rifle, called Nietzsche EP. Tightwire’s singer, Tane, shared, “Canadian Rifle’s side of the split is really good!  Funny story, I wrote ‘I Need You Here Tonight’ on the same day as ‘Anyone But You’ (song from previous LP), and it’s about the same person, but from the opposite perspective.” Tightwire is also gearing up to hit the road later on this month with Teenage Bottlerocket and The Drowns, with tour dates found below.

Kelty Greye Talks “The Middle” Cover

Kelty Greye talks with The Hollywood Reporter about her cover of Jimmy Eat World’s “The Middle” in the Supergirl film.

When asked how it has felt for her song to get so much attention, Greye says, “As an artist, all you want to do is make people feel something. So, what an honor to have created something that gives people a wide spectrum of feelings. Whether you loved it or hated it, if you walked out feeling something, that’s just cool: ‘Wow — gave you an emotional response.’”

Today is a great day to share the latest single and music video from singer-songwriter Marc-Alan Prince with the title track from his new album, Runaway. “Runaway” is an incredible song that deserves to be discovered. Marc-Alan Prince shared:

’Runaway’ is a song about growth, fearlessness, and discovery. It reflects my personal journey of leaving home at an early age and moving to the big city before I even knew how to properly read the street signs. When I started out in Austin, I learned more about myself than I could have ever imagined. I discovered not only who I was, but what I wanted to be and who I intended to become. This video was filmed in Texas-the place where it all started, where I made my bones, and where I truly became Marc-Alan Prince.

Uppity – “Catch 22” (Video Premiere)

Today I’m so excited to bring everyone the new music video from a band called Uppity, which comes from the mind of G’Ra Asim, the vocalist/bassist of Baby Got Back Talk. The new single, called “Catch 22,” is a rock song with a beating heart attached to it filled with purpose. On top of the new music video, a companion book from Asim called 99 Problems Finding the 1: a love story (sort of), is now up for preorder here. Uppity shared:

Like the book, the songs deal with the slings and arrows of loving while Black. Black folks are often under pressure to code switch, and as I argue in the book, there’s a lot to be gained from defying that pressure. Sometimes a code is a way of making verboten the very things that need to be said most. Code ditching is catharsis, a way of letting it all out.
