Record Store Day Black Friday 2025 Preview

CD, Record Store

Record Store Day Black Friday is this Friday and this year’s celebration of indie record stores occurs on November 28th, 2025. With a fresh slate of new vinyl reissues, exciting exclusives, and in some cases, the first pressings of many key titles, the observance comes with a lot of excitement on the biggest shopping day of the year. The full list of RSD Black Friday releases can be found here, but be sure to check in with your local indie record store to see what they will be carrying this Friday. In this preview, I’ll be diving into some of the most sought after releases and offer some tips for newcomers to secure these titles.

First, a few key things to remember:

  1. There are three categories of Record Store Day Titles:
RSD EXCLUSIVES: These titles are physically released only at indie record stores.
RSD FIRST: These titles are found first at indie record stores but may be released to other retailers or webstores at some point in the future.
SMALL RUN/REGIONAL TITLES: These titles are either regionally based and sold at specific stores, or are press runs under 1000, which means they may be harder to find at record stores around the country.
  2. Many of these RSD titles are in “limited” variety, so that usually means waking up early to secure your place in line on the busiest shopping day of the year. I’d highly recommend calling your local record store, or visiting their social media page, to see if they offer any guidance on how their queue will be operated. While most stores opt for a “first come, first served” mentality, other stores hand out physical, numbered tickets for patrons to know their exact place in line.
  3. Record Store Day is meant to be a celebration of indie record stores! Yes, scalpers suck and are definitely ruining the fun, but even if you don’t find the title(s) you’re looking for on Black Friday, many indie record stores will sell their leftovers online as early as this Saturday. Check your favorite indie record store websites to see when they will release their stock so you can set your alarm and secure your next favorite record.

Record Store Day Black Friday 2025: Key Titles

This year’s slate offers several new vinyl releases from marquee artists. Here are the titles I see moving fast this Friday morning.

Wicked: For Good Soundtrack

This RSD Exclusive release is limited to 15,000 copies, and will be released on a double LP picture disc vinyl. The soundtrack release of this season’s biggest movie will also come with alternate cover art, printed inner sleeves and it also includes a 12″ x 14″ dual-sided collectible poster. I anticipate this release moving quickly out the door on Friday morning, and will be a major reason for the long lines.

”The Subway” / “The Giver” – Chappell Roan

One of last year’s hottest pop artists, Chappell Roan, is getting into the holiday spirit with an exclusive release of a dual-sided 7″ single of her two singles from this year, “The Subway” and “The Giver.” With a pressing number at 30,000 units, there should plenty of copies to go around for collectors, so don’t overspend on this release.

It’s Better If You Don’t Understand – Bruno Mars

Pop icon Bruno Mars’ debut EP is being pressed on vinyl for the first time ever. This RSD Exclusive release is limited to 13,000 copies, and features four tracks: “Somewhere in Brooklyn”, “The Other Side” (feat. CeeLo Green & B.o.B), “Count on Me”, and “Talking to the Moon.” With no indication that it will get another pressing, I’d recommend snagging this one if you’re a fan.

Long Bed – Post Malone

The surprise country breakthrough of Post Malone last year was a fun one to watch unfold. I personally am a big fan of the sound found on F-1 Trillion, and the bonus tracks that make up Long Bed are definitely worth checking out. Songs like “Killed A Man” and “Hey Mercedes” should’ve been on the main record, but Post Malone is making up for lost time with this EP of sorts that was only previously available on vinyl during his world tour on a triple vinyl set. This RSD Exclusive is pretty limited at just 5,000 copies and is pressed on orange vinyl.

Live In San Antonio (11/14/1999) – Creed

Creed have gotten a little bit of a renewed sense of pride in their music after being unfairly scoffed at by music critics in the past, and are experiencing a late-career resurgence. Listen to the band at their commercial peak, when they take the stage in San Antonio performing songs from their debut and Human Clay with passionate energy. This set is being released on double LP, metallic silver vinyl via Craft Recordings, and is limited to just 3,000 units.

Punk Goes Acoustic – Various Artists

A scene staple was the Punk Goes… series, and the first version of Punk Goes Acoustic is being released on a yellow translucent vinyl limited to just 1,700 copies. The collection features a condensed tracklist (10 songs) from the original set, but it features amazing acoustic versions from Thursday, Yellowcard, Thrice, The Ataris, and more.

Bluey: The Album – 5th Birthday Zoetrope Edition – Bluey

Record Store Day is not just for the adults! This cute double LP Zoetrope pressing of Bluey: The Album is a RSD Exclusive release and is limited to 4,500 copies. Bring your kids with you to celebrate this shopping holiday.

Still searching for a past Record Store Day title that got away? The official Record Store Day site has also recently launched an exclusive marketplace of past RSD titles via hundreds of indie record stores across the country here. Best of luck this Black Friday, and remember that every day can be “Record Store Day” if you continue to support your local indie record shops!
