Advertising Sale For About One More Week
Just a quick note to say that I’m going to be tweaking the prices for our advertising system within the next few weeks, so, if you wanted to lock in an ad at the sale prices … now’s the time to buy one! After launching the system three weeks ago, it’s been great to see just how much easier it is for me, and advertisers, to get placement on our site. I’m very happy with the results so far.
Feed sponsors are sold out for the next few weeks, but you can schedule one all the way up to October if you would like. So, if you’re interested in locking one in at the current prices, take a look at those as well.
Brendon Urie Talks New Panic! Music
Brendon Urie of Panic! at the Disco talked with Entertainment Weekly:
When we have the two-a-days, I don’t leave. I stay there and work on music and tour ideas. I’ll watch a movie and write lyrics or whatever. It’s definitely bizarre. There’s no way I can’t let some of the Broadway production seep into it. That’s something that’s Panic! always done, we’ve always wanted to create that production show, just mimicking Cirque du Soleil and Broadway shows, so I think that’s going to continue and only get better now that I’ve had some hands-on experience with it. I can’t wait for a live show and an album. I think it’s just going to be a lot of fun.
Twitter Apparently Suspends Music Accounts Over Track List Leak
Twitter accounts for The FADER, Pigeons & Planes, 2DopeBoyz, and HipHop-N-More all appeared as suspended simultaneously today. Navjosh, editor of HipHop-N-More, explained that the suspensions were because Atlantic Records filed complaints with Twitter after the sites posted the track list to Young Thug’s new album, Beautiful Thugger Girls, before its release.
This is absurd if true.

The Killers Talk With Entertainment Weekly
The Killers sat down with Entertainment Weekly to talk about their new album, Wonderful Wonderful:
While the band was trying to push their sound forward, they also started looking back. In the fall of 2016, they celebrated the 10th anniversary of their second album, Sam’s Town, with a pair of shows. “Playing those gigs, I realized how cohesive an idea [Sam’s Town] was,” Flowers says. “That reminded us that we really want to make a record here, not just slap a bunch of songs together…. I think we’ve done it again on this album. It’s the closest thing we’ve done to Sam’s Town.”
Tesla Is Talking to the Music Labels About Creating Its Own Streaming Service
Peter Kafka, writing at Recode:
Music industry sources say the carmaker has had talks with all of the major labels about licensing a proprietary music service that would come bundled with its cars, which already come equipped with a high-tech dashboard and internet connectivity.
Label sources aren’t clear about the full scope of Tesla’s ambitions, but believe it is interested in offering multiple tiers of service, starting with a Pandora-like web radio offering.
Weird.
Taylor Swift’s Return to Spotify Was Very Profitable
Billboard reports that Taylor Swift’s return to Spotify has been quite lucrative:
How much Swift herself would receive from that $329,000 depends on her deal with her label Big Machine.
Meanwhile, the publishing royalties generated from the streams would total a little more than $59,000, up from about $9,000 in the prior week. That revenue would be divided among Swift and her co-writers and their publishers depending on their pro-rata shares of the plays on the songs each writer was affiliated with.
A Feminist Punk Band’s Quest to Create Safer Spaces at Warped Tour
Shawna Potter, writing for Noisey:
I bet a lot of people imagine the Warped Tour as a sea of white men (dude-bros to be more specific), endlessly combing their hair in front of their eyes or pounding beers or texting underage girls and sometimes playing music. That’s harsh, I know, and thank goodness it’s not really like that. Not totally. But for every kernel of truth in that stereotype, our band is happy to offer a true alternative, to talk and sing about reproductive justice, trans rights, and rape culture.
