Dear Spring
“Every Now and Then”

The latest taste of new music from the DC-based pop-punk band Dear Spring is called ”Every Now and Then,” and is filled with great harmonies, back and forth vocals, and a beating heart of purpose in every lyric. The song was produced by Nik Bruzzese, mixed by Ben Green, and mastered by Paul Leavitt. Dear Spring would be perfect for fans of Four Year Strong, Taking Back Sunday, and Hit the Lights, since this band is very much entrenched in that crisp pop-punk sound that many of us have grown to love over the years.

Dear Spring’s new song opens with a squealing guitar sound that quickly evaporates into a great anthem about figuring out this crazy thing called life. The band features two vocalists, and their chemistry is undeniable as they trade verses and occasionally harmonize to bring out the beauty of their sound. The second chorus of, “Every now and then I wonder if I would have stayed / If I hadn’t learned to separate the comfort from the pain / Pulling weeds up by the roots In an empty driveway / I’m not counting on a vacancy / Alone or at all / So checked out / Abandoning totally I never said it was your fault / So many questions buried where I couldn’t tell you,” brings some purpose to the track that commands the attention of the listener, and never lets up.

What this band does best on this song is to capture that nostalgic spirit of checking out your favorite bands on a hot Summer day at the Warped Tour, while still bringing something unique into the fold that makes you feel like you’ve discovered that next band you’ll be blaring out of your speakers on a long drive. Dear Spring are on to great things here.
