Inside Voices
Liminal Space

After releasing their debut in 2018, Consecutive Normal Songs, the Northeast Louisiana emo rock band Inside Voices have returned with their latest offering of new music on the EP titled Liminal Space. The four-piece band would be perfect for fans of the stylings of other emo bands like Title Fight, The Wonder Years, and especially American Football. By showcasing their growth on this collection of six well thought out songs, Inside Voices appear poised for the next big step in their musical evolution.

Kicking off the set with “A Hero Appears,” the first thing I noticed about the band’s sound is their punchy production and how well the vocals balance out the intricate riffs being brought forth to the surface. From the opening spiraling guitar riff to the pulsating drums that launch into the opening instrumental bars of the first track, Inside Voices hone in on creating a sound worthy of repeat listens.

Other songs like the slow burn of “Snooze” speak to the band’s ability to convey a wide range of emotions through their unique brand of thoughtful, emo-based music. Once the vocals kick in on this song, in particular, the band reminded me of a young Bayside with the singer’s similar-sounding croon. By the time you reach the closing title track, you’re left wanting more from Inside Voices in the near future. This band has a nice approach to their songwriting, and I look forward to see their continued growth as musicians.
