Gerard Way Talks With Comicbook.com

Gerard Way

Comicbook.com spoke with Gerard Way and Jon Rivera about “Young Animal” the DC Comics imprint he’s in charge of. There is a small mention at the end about the whole teaser ordeal from the past week.

The video, I don’t really like to talk about just because we’re not that involved in it, and to be honest we didn’t realize that there wasn’t additional information coming out with that, which is why we asked the label to clarify.

My Chemical Romance Address Teaser, Break Hearts

My Chemical Romance

My Chemical Romance have posted an update clarifying that no tour and no reunion are going to take place.

We’ve been really touched and blown away by the response to the teaser trailer. We are not touring and there is no reunion planned – only a release for the anniversary of The Black Parade. Thanks so much for continuing to keep MCR in your minds and in your hearts.

Damn. That’s too bad. They had to know the ruckus that was about to take place when they posted that teaser, logo, and merch, right? Apple’s Notes app sure is getting a lot of love over the past week.

Gerard Way Has a New DC Comics Imprint

Gerard Way

Brittany Spanos, writing for Rolling Stone, talks with Gerard Way about his new DC Comics imprint.

It feels great. A monthly book is a lot different than the limited series that I was doing — and still continue to do — with Umbrella Academy. We’re on Series Three right now, and you really have a long time to write those things. You plan those out pretty far in advance. Being a comic-book writer for a monthly book is a whole different animal, and you end up putting a lot of yourself into it — a lot of personal things I feel. And that happens in Umbrella Academy, too, but it feels more immediate because you need material to sell those books. To get back to your question, it feels amazing. I come in, and I help edit. I art-direct; I help put the teams together; I give people directions. Sometimes I write scenes, things like that. It’s using all of my skills, which is really great, and it’s more focused than when I was doing art for the band, but it’s very similar.

Review: My Chemical Romance – The Black Parade

The Black Parade

You may love to rip them for what you perceive their image to be. But there’s one thing you can’t take away from the powerhouse known as My Chemical Romance: This is a group of talented musicians with a vision that refuse to apply the brakes to their imagination, creativity, and ability.

The New Jersey quintet – singer Gerard Way, bassist Mikey Way, guitarists Ray Toro and Frank Iero, drummer Bob Bryar – has pulled out all the stops for The Black Parade and has released anything but a sequel to their last material. The 13-track (14 if you want to get technical and include the “Hidden Track”) effort will leave you with a feeling like that of being in a theatre on Broadway, watching dancers and singers bring to life the latest Andrew Lloyd Weber tale.
