Alex Henry Foster – “Alchemical Connection” (Song Premiere)

Alex Henry Foster

Today I’m thrilled to share with everyone the latest single from Alex Henry Foster called “Alchemical Connection.” The newest song from this talented artist comes from the newly announced LP A Measure of Shapes and Sounds that will be released everywhere music is sold on September 20th. Alex Henry Foster shared, “‘Alchemical Connection’ is the contemplative portrait of a blooming dawn I had the mesmerizing privilege of witnessing in the dead cold of winter, through the Virginian mountain horizon where I live. I was fascinated by the slow awakening of colors growing into one another, evolving into a stream, and redefining impermanent beauties. It reminded me of the bright shining lights dancing over the ocean of crystal pieces covering the awakening morning in the middle of the desert, where silence murmurs about inner peace and where wind carries the nature of what it feels like to be truly alive. This song evokes those profound sensations.” If you’re enjoying the new single, please consider pre-ordering the new LP here. I was also able to catch up with this songwriter for a brief interview below.

Musically, it’s somewhere between Lit’s 1999 A Place In The Sun and 2001 Smash Mouth. I think this song came together much more naturally than anything we’ve worked on before. It’s right in that pocket for us, that sweet spot between genres.” If you’re enjoying the early listen to July Crowd’s new single, please consider pre-saving the track here.

Wild Powwers – “Spider Legs” (Song Premiere)

Wild Powwers

Today I’m thrilled to bring everyone the latest single from Alt Rock band, Wild Powwers, called “Spider Legs.” Wild Powwers singer/guitarist Lara Hilgemann, bassist Jordan Gomes, and drummer/singer Lupe Flores (who owns renowned Seattle restaurant “Lupe’s Situ Tacos”) have been banging out heavy, infectious, shimmering rock music together for 10 glorious years. On their fifth full length album, Pop Hits & Total Bummers Vol. 5, the band cultivates a collection of songs that lean in on both sides of the musical spectrum. Some are written to be catchy, and some are written to be massive bummers. They’d like to thank Seattle’s lack of sunshine for making it all possible. Hilgemann shared about the new single, “‘Spider Legs’ is about never being able to shake the feeling of someone or something. Like a phantom limb. It’s cut off from you for some reason or another but you can’t shake the feeling of its ghost.” If you’re enjoying the latest single, please consider pre-ordering the band’s new LP, out everywhere on July 5th via Nadine Records, here.

Love Letter – “Meds and Taxes” (Song Premiere)

Love Letter

Today, New England’s Love Letter, formerly known as Death Of A Nation, which features Andrew Reitz (drums), Matthew Spence (guitar), Dave Alcan (bass), Quinn Murphy (vocals), and Jay Maas (guitars, backing vocals), are pleased to announce their debut album Everyone Wants Something Beautiful. Not to be outdone by the album announcement, they’re also sharing their latest single called “Meds and Taxes.” Lead vocalist Quinn Murphy shared:

With ‘Meds and Taxes,’ I wanted to address the trappings that the systemic curse of generational poverty causes to the majority of the world, the way being raised with a predetermined mountain to climb that distorts the body and sabotages mental health can leave us more susceptible to hardships and terrible choices. Being born comes with the overwhelming likelihood of individuals, families and communities getting stuck in a cyclical struggle to make ends meet. It’s a big ask to stay relatively healthy while trying to keep your sanity through the physical and mental stress and expectations of a sociopathic capitalist society ruled by apathy and greed. The foretold task at hand for us is beyond daunting and belligerently exploitative.

If you’re enjoying the latest single, please consider pre-ordering Everyone Wants Something Beautiful (out on June 28th) here.

Terry Jones ft. Dashius Clay – “Solo En Verano”

Terry Jones

Today is a great day to share the new Terry Jones single, featuring Dashius Clay, called “Solo En Verano.” On this rap and dance-infused track, Terry Jones makes the most of his moment on a song about overcoming betrayal. Dashius Clay and Terry Jones partnered up for this song, as well as for a full EP called The Bebop Summer EP, that is now on streaming services. When speaking on the collaboration, Terry Jones shared, “I had been a fan of Dashius for many years so when we worked together on “They Call Me El Guapo.” I had the idea of making a full summer pack EP with him. A triangle of what I feel are international sounds of summer music. Latin Rap, Afrobeats/Afro-Fusion and Dance/House type music. Xyber Beats sent us so much to work with. While I was in the studio a friend FRZY walked in, an Emmy winning Guinness World record holder. He heard what I was working on, he had some ideas for background vocals and arrangements with me. Once it was recorded we sent it to Dashius and he loved it and put down a phenomenal verse as always. I’m excited for people to experience this project as a whole.” I was also able to catch up with Terry Jones for a brief interview below.

The Clamor – “You Bring Out The Demon In Me” (Song Premiere)

The Clamor

Today is a great day to share the newest single from The Clamor called “You Bring Out The Demon In Me.” The second single from the band’s forthcoming EP to be released this summer, was co-written by Vic Godard and the Subway Sect. This punk-infused anthem is sure to make you feel something. The Clamor shared:

Vic Godard is a legend and one of the most fiercely original songwriters and lyricists out there.  I love his song, and I thought a cover would work well as a thematic anchor to strengthen the narrative coherence of the four singles being released this spring. The struggle between saint and sinner, the plea for rescue, and the resistance against drifting between extremes all resonated with both my personal experiences and the overall exploration of personal struggles, the fragility of relationships, and the constant search for authenticity in the four singles.

It’s about the joy of being disappointed; realizing that means that you are capable of caring really deeply about the people, ideas, and experiences in your life. I tried to keep it relatively straightforward and poppy, though the yowling off-key chorus vocals and abrupt shifts will probably lose some folks.” If you’re enjoying the new single, please consider pre-ordering his upcoming EP here. I was also able to catch up with Max for a brief interview below.

Crow and Gazelle – “The Only Thing” (Song Premiere)

Crow and Gazelle

Today is a great day to share the new single from Crow and Gazelle called “The Only Thing.” The song comes from the band’s new LP, As Above Now So Below, that releases everywhere music is sold on April 26th. The band shared:

When I used to volunteer in the max ward of the jail in Austin, I would sing this chorus to the women in our closing circle, where we worked to heal trauma, every week. In the context of this album, the words of this song fit the theme of love helping us to heal and to recover…A song of love, but not just to another… this one, especially the first part, is often sung to myself–to the part of me that I have recovered and reclaimed, which was torn apart as a child. She is the one who helps drive out the demons of the past. Because I want to give her that power, now, just as I want to give it to anyone who has suffered at the hands of another. To undo, unlearn, and draw attention to the truth of our worth, through songs like this and the rest of this album, feels like ‘the only thing I’ve done right.’ Not literally of course, but it feels like the most right thing I could do, at this very moment. Love brought us both to this place–it empowered us to find our truth, and to share it.

If you’re enjoying the early listen, you can pre-save the new LP here.
