Today I’m so excited to bring everyone the latest single from the Atlanta-based anthemic punk band, The Carolyn, called “Routines.” The Carolyn is Andrew Patrick (Guitar & Vocals), Oliver Conlon (Bass & Vocals), and Dave Mulazzi (Drums) and they capture the spirit of melodic punk bands like The Gaslight Anthem and The Menzingers, but with a sound of their own. The band is gearing up for the release of their third LP, Pyramid Scheme of Grief, which releases everywhere music is sold on October 3rd via 59 X Records. Today I’m proud to introduce everyone to a great new band from Atlanta, Georgia named abandcalledlove. Their latest single, “A Liar!” is brimming with big indie pop rock hooks, rich textural instrumental sections, all paired with infectious melodies and harmonies. abandcalledlove is Ryan Chandler Love (lead vocals), Ian Joshua Riley (producer/guitarist), Blake Aldridge (guitar), Brooks Roberts (bass), and Austin Yagle (drums), and their band chemistry showcases why they routinely sell out venues they are booked to play at. Band member, Ian Joshua Riley shared:

If the opening track of the EP is a ‘mission statement’ of sorts denoting what love is, and the second track of the EP is an extrapolation of those ideas, then ‘A Liar!’, being track three, is intended to be an antithetical, bastardized representation of ‘love’ experienced while intentionally and genuinely pursuing it. The dialogue-style approach to the lyrics combined with the narrator’s internal monologue in the chorus is meant to represent a hypothetical, but universally relatable narrative of the seemingly never-ending chaotic cycle of miscommunication, unmet expectations, confusion, hurt, and misunderstanding that come with the pursuit of genuine relationship when goals are fundamentally unaligned. We also wanted the push-and-pull nature of the production and composition to reflect that tension as much as possible, so we spent a lot of time in the studio balancing the more traditional dynamic rock elements with the more subtle electronics and ambient, atmospheric moments to really emphasize the overall dynamics of the track, especially leading up to the song’s climax.

Today I’m thrilled to share with everyone the lush and vibrant new single from singer-songwriter, Kashena Sampson, called “Ghost Of Me.” This Nashville-based artist is storming onto the scene armed with a psychedelic-indie folk rock sound that is sure to leave you breathless. Sampson’s new album, which is also called Ghost of Me, arrives on October 3rd, and will be this ultra-talented songwriter’s third full-length record to date. Kashena Sampson shared, “Besides being a musician, I have also been a bartender at a music venue for the past 10 years to pay my bills. It’s a great job, but there are some nights that feel like my heart is breaking. Watching others live out the exact dream I’m still chasing, night after night. Having to put a smile on my face and serve industry people who’ve passed on me can be rough, and I can get real down on myself about it sometimes. ‘Ghost Of Me’ is about those moments. The times when I question my worth, and the internal struggle of not being where I would like to be in my music career. Banquets – “Episodes” (Song Premiere)

Today is a great day to share an early listen to the New Jersey 4-piece emo band, Banquets, new single called “Episodes.” The last we heard from Banquets, they announced their third and final LP, Spit at the Sun. The Jersey City quartet had decided to hang it up after years of shows and several releases with Black Numbers. They played their final show in February of 2016 and the members went their separate ways, parting on good terms but with the understanding that the realities of life made it difficult to carry the banner any further. Today marks a new chapter in Banquets story, as lead vocalist/guitarist Travis shared:

The song ‘Episodes’ takes the form of a letter to my former self. It acts as a reflection of how I’ve hurt and let others down. I’ve squandered some truly remarkable moments by not being fully present. Days and nights were more episodic. Like a malnourished Zack Morris, I’m trudging through a Belgian field looking for a chance to swipe some Jagermeister at Groezrock. Then I’m punishing random people with Nesquik Bunny references and making everyone stage-dive in between Lifetime songs. Cap off the episode by time-traveling during a Lagwagon set, and watching Rancid from behind my eyelids in a Sprinter. Sounds cool. Wish I was there.

Banquets fit somewhere within the artistic realm of Jimmy Eat World, Hot Rod Circuit, and The Menzingers, and they’re quickly re-cementing themselves as a key artist to watch as this year unfolds. Today I’m so excited to share the new bonus track/visualizer video from 00’s emo band, Tokyo Rose, that comes from their breakthrough record of called New American Saint, with “Philadelphia in the Springtime.” The band is also excited to announce their signing to the label of Manic Kat Records, and the deluxe version of New American Saint releases this Friday. Lead vocalist Ryan Dominguez shared:

I never imagined anything I did 20 years ago would ever be remembered, let alone be regarded fondly enough by anyone, other than the very small handful of people who were involved with it at the time, to be remastered and re-released 2 decades after the fact. Today I’m thrilled to bring everyone the hook-laden new single from UK punk rock band, Chinese Junk, that has a blistering take on the current political landscape called “Shut Up About The USA.” These punk rockers are coming in hot with some slick guitar-driven garage punk rock with meaning. Whether you’re tossing beers in your basement or screaming down a dirt road at 100 mph, this split (called Talk Trash w/ Gino & The Goons and Chinese Junk) that releases this Friday, will deliver the anxiety ridden chaos your soul craves. The sound of sweat filled shows and sweat soaked rebellion – get it while it’s still dripping on Big Neck Records. Band member Ben Nuthink shared:

I’ve got a few friends that are lucky enough to be able to afford to go to the USA on holiday pretty regularly. I can’t afford to, so it’s probably partly written as a case of sour grapes but also me having a bit of fun with it. I figured I’d write a song referring to all the stereotypes of the USA that I could think of to fill two verses. I mention cops in donut shops which funnily enough, I also mention in a song on our first album. The references are mostly good things. Americans do everything bigger than the rest of the world so it’s pointing that out too. The ‘Shut Up…’ lyric in the chorus is me saying to stop rubbing in that you’ve been there AGAIN and I haven’t for years!

Fresh off the ink drying on their new recording contract with Manic Kat Records, Horizon Point are back with a great-sounding new single called “Bend The Truth.” The band shared:

We are so excited to sign with Manic Kat Records! Our first EP with MKR is already in the works, and should be out later this year. A big part of Horizon Point’s message is about mental health, and this song has an extra special meaning for us. It’s a story about a relationship between two people who have experienced trauma in their lives. They’re both trying to improve themselves and break the cycle of the past to be better partners. The hook, ‘I’m so scared, but I want to get better’, can be applied to so many moments in life where you’re on the cusp of change but still afraid to take the first step. It’s a song about encouragement and hope for something new.
