The Get Up Kids

The Get Up Kids have had to cancel some of their upcoming tour dates.

Hi Everyone, We’re writing to inform you that unfortunately The Get Up Kids have to cancel their upcoming tour dates in August and September. You can find a statement from the band below. “Hello friends. We’ve got some bad news. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, we’re going to have to cancel the September leg of our US tour except for Codfish Hollow and Riot Fest. We hope (knock on wood) to be able to make it back to your town before the end of the year. Refunds will be available wherever you bought your ticket. We’re sorry for the inconvenience and are grateful for your understanding. Stay tuned for new tour dates as soon as they are confirmed.” We will be issuing full refunds for your purchases, nothing needs to be done on your behalf. Please allow 5-7 business days for the funds to return to your account. We apologize about the inconvenience.

Lyrics Site Accuses Google of Lifting Its Content

Google

The Wall Street Journal:

Genius Media Group Inc. depends on Google’s search engine to send music lovers to its website stocked with hard-to-decipher lyrics to hip-hop songs and other pop hits.

Now Genius says its traffic is dropping because, for the past several years, Google has been publishing lyrics on its own platform, with some of them lifted directly from the music site. […]

Starting around 2016, Genius said, the company made a subtle change to some of the songs on its website, alternating the lyrics’ apostrophes between straight and curly single-quote marks in exactly the same sequence for every song.

When the two types of apostrophes were converted to the dots and dashes used in Morse code, they spelled out the words “Red Handed.”
