Blink-182 Confirmed on XXXTentacion Track Listing

Blink-182

The track listing for XXXTentacion’s posthumous album, Bad Vibes Forever, has been released. Blink-182 are now confirmed to have contributed to the track “It’s All Fading to Black.”

I’ve sat here for the past thirty minutes trying to figure out how to word this post, which I felt was important to make because it is newsworthy and I think people should know it’s confirmed and happening. Right now, I’m as frustrated and angry as I have been in a long time at something in the musical world. I think this post from our forums sums up where a lot of my frustration is coming from at the moment.

Andrew McMahon Worked on New Netflix Series Score

Andrew McMahon

Andrew McMahon has announced his involvement in the upcoming Netflix series, Soundtrack:

So excited to announce the release of Soundtrack. This show is the beautiful brainchild of @joshsafran, who I worked with on Smash several years ago. I spent the summer holed up in the studio with the amazing @whiteseamusic, writing the score for season 1 which will come out on @netflix on December 18th. I owe her such a debt of gratitude for sharing her wisdom and friendship throughout the process. A huge shout out to the cast and crew as well as @iamzacclark who wrote the first episode with me and fellow composer Jimmy Levine who wrote amazing music for the season. Hope you enjoy!

Apple Announces First Ever Apple Music Awards

Apple

The inaugural Apple Music awards will take place tomorrow night. The company has designed unique awards to be presented to the winners.

Apple has designed a series of awards to celebrate the extraordinary craftsmanship integral to creating music. Each award features Apple’s custom silicon wafer suspended between a polished sheet of glass and a machined and anodized aluminum body. The wafers start as a perfect 12-inch disc of silicon with nanometer level flatness. Copper layers are deposited and patterned by ultraviolet lithography to create connections between billions of transistors. The result of this multi-month process, before it is sliced into hundreds of individual chips, is stunning and distinctive. In a symbolic gesture, the same chips which power the devices that put the world’s music at your fingertips sit at the very heart of the Apple Music Awards.

I want one.

Grimes Interviewed by Lana Del Rey

Grimes

Lana Del Rey interviewed Grimes for Interview Magazine:

I’m really obsessed with polytheism. I love how the ancient Greeks or the ancient Egyptians lived in this weird anime world where there were just tons of gods that could be anything. It’s like every form of suffering had a representation. I wonder if it almost has a positive psychological effect. If your kid dies in a war, you can literally go speak to War and be like, “Why did you do this?” Or, “I hope you did this for a reason.” There’s a weird philosophical justification for all pain, and there’s an anthropomorphization of every form of pain. In our current society, we don’t even know how to talk about things. So my album’s about a modern demonology or a modern pantheon where every song is about a different way to suffer or a different way to die. If you think about it, god-making or god-designing just seems so fun. The idea of making the Goddess of Plastic seems so fun to me.
