Recently, I was able to schedule a Zoom interview with the band, Letter Kills, to discuss what made them want to start making music again. I asked the band about the memories they had from recording their well-balanced debut The Bridge, why they felt that the record didn’t get as much traction as they had hoped, as well as what went into the writing/recording process of their triumphant new single, “Right Where We Belong.” Letter Kills will also be playing a headlining show at The Observatory in LA with Dead American and Bullets & Octane on July 28th.

This past week, I was able to catch up with Ryan Key of Yellowcard before he and his recently reunited bandmates embark on their summer tour celebrating 20 years of Ocean Avenue. In this in-depth interview with the lead vocalist of Yellowcard, I asked him about what went into the writing and recording of their new EP Childhood Eyes, the comparisons of the new EP to the sound of Paper Walls, and how he keeps the spirit of Yellowcard alive through various projects and outlets. Recently I was able to schedule an interview with M.A.G.S. to discuss his newly announced new LP, Destroyer, that will release via Smartpunk Records on August 4th. In this interview, I asked Elliott about his recent tours of crowd-testing the new material, the writing process that went into his latest record, as well as how he measures his success as an artist. M.A.G.S. will also be on tour this summer at a few select venues.

About a month ago, I was able to chat with author Chris Payne about his new book titled Where Are Your Boys Tonight? The Oral History of Emo’s Mainstream Explosion 1999-2008. In this interview, I asked Chris about how the book came together through his unique interviews with artists and people that were around the scene, how he narrowed down the bands he wanted to target for this book, how he found his “writer’s voice” through this writing process, as well as some other questions about what Chris enjoys most about this genre of music. Recently I was able to schedule a Zoom call with the lead vocalist of rock band Finger Eleven, Scott Anderson, to discuss the upcoming release of the band’s first greatest hits compilation. In this interview, I asked Scott about how he and his bandmates narrowed down the song choices included in the set, the memories that stood out from each of the albums in their discography, as well as the best piece of advice he’s ever received in his career. This past week I was able to hop on a Zoom call with indie pop-rock band, Arrows In Action, to discuss their great new album called Built To Last. Arrows In Action is singer/guitarist Victor Viramontes-Pattison, guitarist Matt Fowler, and drummer Jesse Frimmel, and their unique circumstances that led to them playing music together only made them stronger as a unit. In this interview, I asked the band about what went into writing/recording Built To Last, the collaborative tracks found on the record, plus how they measure success in their musical career. Recently I was able to schedule a Zoom interview with Sarah Rose (lead vocals) and Kienan Dietrich (guitars/vocals), of Sarah & The Safe Word, to discuss their thrilling fourth album, The Book of Broken Glass. The new record was produced by Jim Wirt (Jack’s Mannequin, Hoobastank), and will be released everywhere music is sold this Friday, April 7th via Take This To Heart Records. Recently I was able to catch up with Charleston-based indie rock band, Whitehall, to chat about their upcoming new LP Maizy, out everywhere music is sold on May 5th. Whitehall is Paddy Mckiernan (Vocals/Guitar), Avery Green (Guitar), Brennan Clark (Bass), and Davis Rowe (Drums). I asked the band about their approach to writing great singles like, ”Pull,” as well as what they hope others will take away from listening to their music. The band has toured with pop-rock giants like the Goo Goo Dolls, and appear poised and ready for their moment.
