Caicos – “Behemoth” (Video Premiere)

Today I’m thrilled to bring everyone the latest single and video from New York-based indie pop artist, Caicos, the moniker of Alex Frenkel, called “Behemoth.” On this vibrant track that is filled with lush and complex guitar parts, Caicos establishes himself as a key artist to watch. “To me, the behemoth is a tryingly-formative experience from our past that we silently carry until it becomes very burdensome to divulge when embarking on cultivating new relationships,” Frenkel explains. “How can we possibly effectively communicate the emotions that have calcified over such a long period of time? The song explores a few examples of behemoths as well as the problems that might arise when deciding to finally attempt to share them.” If you’re enjoying the new single and video from Caicos, please consider supporting this artist here.

”Behemoth” seems to explore how the weight of the past affects current relationships–how have you seen this manifest in your own experience?

For me, “starting from the beginning” seems harder and harder as the years go by. When faced with a desire to connect with someone new on a deeper level, the enormity and time horizon of getting to know a person over a long period of time can be overwhelming, especially when it comes to accounting for my own personal history.

Was there a specific instance that inspired the writing of the new song?

Although there wasn’t a specific instance that inspired me to write the song, I thought about how common it is for an individual to take stock of their existence and how universally burdensome it is to communicate the accuracy and scale of our lives to this present moment to someone new in our lives.

How did you link up with Rozalina Burkova for the music video?

Rozalina has directed all the music videos for this project, starting in 2018. We were introduced by the creative agency The Wild Honey Pie, who also produced the first two videos. Rozalina’s collaboration and friendship are truly vital to all things Caicos.
