Interview: TRXVIS

Recently I was able to connect with pop-punk artist TRXVIS to discuss everything that went into his new single and video for “CRASH LANDING”. I asked this artist about some of his favorite bands in the scene, what makes his music enjoyable for others to vibe with, and much more. For tour dates and music streaming options check out the link here.

Thanks for your time today! What went into the writing and recording process of your slick-sounding new single called “CRASH LANDING”?

What went into the writing process of my new single “CRASH LANDING!” was a concept that derived from UFOs and aliens invading planet Earth. I’ve always been someone who has been interested in space, exploration, and specifically aliens, so I wanted to make a fun, poppy punk song that incorporated all of those things into one. Recording the song was done at Beach Noise, in Santa Monica, California with producers Johnny Kosich and Pete Adams. We wanted to add elements of sound that felt like you were being transported into a UFO and abducted by aliens.

Your music influences seem to have a firm grip on the punk/emo scene. What was your music upbringing like growing up?

Growing up in Manhattan Beach, California, I always skated and surfed with friends. I was always a kid that listened to early 2000s pop punk and 90s punk, so that influenced me heavily on the music that I chose to pursue. My dad was an 80s kid that grew up in the hard-core scene, listening to bands like Black Flag and minor threat. So I was also raised on listening to those type of punk bands as well which also plays influence into the music that I currently make. pulling from the 80s hard-core scene to the early 2000s pop punk scene, I have tried to take both styles and blend them into my own style.

What are the five albums you could not live without in this world?

  1. Enema of the State - Blink-182
  2. American Idiot – Green Day
  3. Under Soil and Dirt – The Story So Far
  4. Minor Threat - Minor Threat
  5. Rocket to Russia – The Ramones

I understand that you have a few key tour dates coming up, including festivals like The Warped Tour. What does it mean to you to be on the billing for key fests like The Warped Tour?

I genuinely can’t even comprehend that I’m playing a Warped Tour. I feel as though it is a dream and is probably the most surreal feeling in the world. It has always been a childhood dream of mine to play a festival like warped tour because of the history and nostalgia elements that play a role in shaping the  pop punk scene. I feel as though I’m going to really open up many more opportunities and get more of my music out to the fans that come to watch my set at Warped Tour. Playing alongside bands I grew up idolizing and still do idolize is such a weird and full circle moment feeling. I am so stoked!

How do you approach building out your setlist?

I want to keep my set fun and super high energy! I try to pick every song that captures those vibes. Nothing that kills the energy  but gets the fans to jump and have fun! 30 minutes of chaos is the only way to describe it.

What can fans of the new single look forward to from Trxvis for the rest of 2025 and beyond

Tons more music and an EP this fall! We are going to drop a new single every month leading up to my first EP. I will also be playing tons of shows.
