The Maine Break Down Their Catalog

The Maine

The Maine talked with Alt. Press to break down all their albums:

We went into it as if it were our second album, and if you listen to this record and American Candy, they are somewhat similar or complementary at least. Giving Colby even more leadership really guided a song like “Black Butterflies And Deja Vu” to what it was, which happened a few times on this record.

New Nate Barcalow Interview

Finch

Nate Barcalow of Finch talked with Terrier Cvlt:

I think that a lot of genres of music have exhausted themselves and don’t have much left to give, but something that is becoming exciting for me is the visual art accompanying music these days. A lot of artists are doing really cool things with music videos, and heavier music in particular has had some really great visuals, making for a more rounded and cinematic experience.

Review: Palette Knife – Keyframe

Palette Knife - Keyframe

The latest album from math rock/emo band, Palette Knife, is a windows-down blast of punk rock energy fit for the soundtrack of your summer. Keyframe features plenty of nerdy math rock elements, paired with great guitar breakdowns, and soaring melodies that get back to the early 00’s heyday of when pop-punk was king. The three-piece band from Ohio is Alec Licata (lead vocals/guitar), Chris McGrath (bass/vocals), and Aaron Queener (drums/vocals), and they highlight their growth as a band here. Palette Knife continue to “sharpen their blade” and have made their most immediately gratifying work to date on Keyframe.

Green Day Comedy Changes Name to ‘Nimrods’

Green Day

The upcoming Green Day-inspired film has had its name changed to Nimrods.

Nimrods is a coming-of-age film centering on three high school friends who set out on a wild road trip under the mistaken assumption that their fledgling band has been booked to open for Green Day on New Year’s Eve. The story is based on Green Day’s real-life adventures while living in a van before the success of Dookie, their 1994 Grammy-winning major label debut album that has since been certified as double-diamond.
