FRANKIIE – “Between Dreams” (Album Stream)

Frankiie

Today I’m thrilled to share with everyone the latest full-length record from indie pop band, FRANKIIE, called Between Dreams. The album was just released this past Friday, and it showcases the band’s growth that nails the vibe of dream-pop, and breathtaking vocal harmonies on their sophomore set. If you’re enjoying what you hear, please consider purchasing the LP here. I was also able to catch up with the band for a brief interview below.

What and who were some of the sonic influences for Between Dreams? Does the band more or less have similar musical influences or do they differ between everyone? How do you combine the influences that differ?

I would say as a band we definitely have differing music influences and tastes but there is always an overlap, it keeps things interesting. While writing this record we were listening to alot of Hannah Cohen, TOPS, Men I trust, Yves Tumour, Timber Timbre, Parcels, Angel Olsen, Weyes Blood, Pink Floyd and Tame Impala. The classics are always in rotation too, 70s rock n folk for sure.

Are there any specific stories that drove inspiration for some of the tracks? Which ones are your favorites and why?

While on a writing retreat for this record at Nashlyn’s cabin on the Sunshine Coast, we found a poem written by Nashlyn’s mom on an old hotel lobby notepad. The song was all about Nashlyn’s cat Tofu. It was hilarious and also amazing. So we decided to use the poem as the basis for the lyrics of “Crystal Eyes.” Thanks Linda! “Passion Fruit” is a love song about the cyclical nature of a deep and timeless love, the chorus and original verses were written on the beach in Morocco.

What’s coming next for FRANKIIE? Can we expect any touring or music videos now that the album is out?

Yes! Well there is an amazing video out now for our song “Golden Days” which was written and directed by Andrea Nazarian, founder of HILITE an emerging global production house. We are playing a few summer shows and planning another Pacific Northwest tour in the fall with our friends Dark Dazey from LA.
