HAIM will be scoring the upcoming Netflix animated musical, The Witch Boy.

Hailing from the Oscar-nominated Adam and Dog director and based on Molly Knox Osterag’s New York Times bestselling novel series of the same name, The Witch Boytakes place in a secret, magical community where girls are born to be witches and boys grow into shapeshifters. The Lee’s protagonist, Aster, is surprised to discover his emerging witch powers. But when a mysterious force endangers his world, he must embark on a journey to learn the truth behind himself, his powers and all the magic around him.

Foo Fighters Launch SiriusXM Station

Foo Fighters have teamed up with SiriusXM for the launch of a limited-run station:

The channel features a new, exclusive live concert performance, as well as unrivaled programming and special commentary from Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett, Pat Smear, and Rami Jaffee, beginning February 3 at 12pm ET on Channel 105.

To coincide with the release of the band’s 10th studio album, Medicine At Midnight, Foo Fighters Radio will debut an exclusive performance from the band, Foo Fighters LIVE from the SiriusXM Garage in Los Angeles, on February 5 at 5pm ET and PT.

Morgan Wallen Tops the Charts (Again)

Morgan Wallen still has the top album in the country this week:

Morgan Wallen’s Dangerous: The Double Album spends a second straight week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, earning 159,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending Jan. 21 (down 40%), according to MRC Data. The album arrived atop the list a week ago with 265,000 units.

Morgan Wallen has the number one album in the country this week:

Morgan Wallen’s Dangerous: The Double Album debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart in record-setting fashion, as it garners the largest streaming week ever for a country album. The 30-song album — Wallen’s first leader — further logs the largest overall week, by units earned, for a country set in over two years.

Taylor Swift Tops the Charts, Again

Taylor Swift once again has the number one album in the country:

As Taylor Swift’s Evermore returns to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart (dated Jan. 16) for a third nonconsecutive week (up from No. 2 a week ago), the superstar now has a cumulative 51 weeks at No. 1 across all eight of her chart-toping albums. That ties Michael Jackson for the fourth-most weeks at No. 1. The two superstars only trail The Beatles (a record 132 weeks), Elvis Presley (67) and Garth Brooks (52).

What a hell of a time to be alive. With our best-laid plans smashed to bits and an entire album cycle of touring erased from the calendar, we needed to find new ways to keep this operation runnin’. Thus “From Exile,” a DIY self-recorded revisioning of “Hello Exile,” was born. It was an incredible learning experience and a beautiful way for the four of us to connect albeit from a distance.

We’re at it again, this time launching a Patreon and calling it The Regulars Club. For many people, this was a year of self-reflection and prioritization. We are no exception. We’re taking a deep dive. This is a way for us to stay connected to you guys, to each other, to our music, and to the journey that got us here. There are countless stories we’ve yet to tell. The Grammys Postponed

“The deteriorating COVID situation in Los Angeles, with hospital services being overwhelmed, ICUs having reached capacity, and new guidance from state and local governments have all led us to conclude that postponing our show was the right thing to do,” the Recording Academy and CBS, the network broadcasting the show, said in a statement. “Nothing is more important than the health and safety of those in our music community and the hundreds of people who work tirelessly on producing the show. We want to thank all of the talented artists, the staff, our vendors and especially this year’s nominees for their understanding, patience and willingness to work with us as we navigate these unprecedented times.”

Playboi Carti has the number one album in the country this week.

Playboi Carti lands his first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, as his Christmas Day release Whole Lotta Red debuts atop the tally. The rapper’s second studio album starts with 100,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending Dec. 31, 2020, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.

Ticketmaster Will Pay $10 Million for Hacking Rival Ticket Seller

Ticketmaster has agreed to pay $10 million for breaking into a competitors’ network. The company and its parent Live Nation admitted to hiring a former employee from rival ticket seller CrowdSurge, then using his knowledge — including old usernames and passwords — to learn CrowdSurge’s inner workings and “cut [the company] off at the knees.”

“Ticketmaster employees repeatedly — and illegally — accessed a competitor’s computers without authorization using stolen passwords to unlawfully collect business intelligence,” said acting US attorney Seth DuCharme. “Further, Ticketmaster’s employees brazenly held a division-wide ‘summit’ at which the stolen passwords were used to access the victim company’s computers.”

New Eve 6 EP Coming Next Year

Fans might be more surprised to learn that new Eve 6 music is on the way — the reason Collins recently began tweeting more from the band’s account. Within the next two months, Eve 6 (Collins, Hilzinger and guitarist Jon Siebels) are set to release Black Nova (Velocity Records), a self-produced EP mostly recorded in Siebels’ downtown Los Angeles apartment.

Taylor Swift has the number one album in the country:

Taylor Swift’s Evermore album holds atop the Billboard 200 chart for a second week, as the set earned 169,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending Dec. 24 (down 49%), according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. The album opened at No. 1 a week ago with 329,000 units.

Paul McCartney topped the sales only chart:

The album was available in more than 10 vinyl variants, which combined to sell nearly 32,000 copies in its first week – the third-largest sales week for a vinyl album since Nielsen Music/MRC Data began electronically tracking music sales in 1991. Only the debut weeks of Jack White’s Lazaretto (40,000) and Pearl Jam’s Vitalogy (34,000) were larger.

U.S. Vinyl Album Sales Hit New Record High

As predicted, U.S. vinyl album sales hit another historic high, as 1.842 million LPs were sold in the week ending Dec. 24, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. That’s the largest week for the format since Nielsen Music/MRC Data began electronically tracking music sales in 1991. The previous high was set only a week earlier, when 1.445 million were sold in the frame ending Dec. 17.

Furthermore, vinyl album sales outpaced CD sales for the week: 1.841 million vs. 1.671 million. It’s the fourth time that’s happened since 1991, and all four instances occurred in 2020.
