Between The Echoes – “Night Diving (Reimagined)” (Song Premiere)

Between The Echoes

Today I’m thrilled to share with everyone the latest single from Between The Echoes called “Night Diving (Reimagined)” On this Thrice cover, Between The Echoes do the original song justice by adding their unique take on the instrumental song by adding their own vocals and personality directly back into the music. Katie Jean (vocals) shared:

As a band, we are huge fans of Thrice and their instrumental version of ‘Night Diving.’ We thought it would be an incredible opportunity to take a song we loved so dearly and reimagine it with not only vocals, but also through lots of added ear candy sprinkled about. Not only lyrically but also musically, it was very important to us that we pay homage to Thrice’s Alchemy Index and simply add our magical touch to the song!

Between The Echoes are onto something truly magical here.

Sunsetter – “The Whole World That Turns Around Itself” (Song Premiere)

Sunsetter

Today I’m thrilled to bring everyone the latest single from shoegaze artist Sunsetter, called “The Whole World That Turns Around Itself.” Sunsetter is the solo music project of Andrew McLeod, and he shared:

This track is one of the first things I created when my partner and I moved into our new house in rural Norfolk county. I found myself realizing there was an album coming together; I had about 20+ pieces of music to work from and I was trying to pair down but also create more tracks that really captured the mood of how I was feeling at the time.  After finishing this track, I remember thinking to myself that I had found a more central mood for this album as a whole and ended up scrapping a bunch of the songs I had previously recorded and almost starting from scratch.

If you’re enjoying the direction of the new single, the full-length record called The Best I Can Be, will be released everywhere music is sold today. I was also able to catch up with Andrew for a brief interview below.

The Scary Jokes – “Uzumaki” (Song Premiere)

The Scary Jokes

Today I’m thrilled to bring everyone the latest single from synth-pop artist The Scary Jokes called “Uzumaki.” The song is about vivid dreams of past failed relationships, wanting everything to be okay, as well as the painful realization of reality when you wake up from dreaming. With a sound truly to their own, The Scary Jokes make a solid impression on the “bedroom pop” genre. The Scary Jokes shared:

”Uzumaki” was inspired by having recurring dreams about people you’ve had a falling out with. You just want things to be okay like they are in the dream but you wake up and you’re still not friends with that person. When I have dreams like that, all the context for why we’re not friends anymore is inaccessible in that moment. But as soon as you wake up and have some clarity, everything comes rushing to the forefront of your brain. I often get frustrated by the senselessness of making an enemy. I don’t want to have enemies; I want to be friends with everyone. “Uzumaki” is about those feelings being at odds with each other.

The song comes from their forthcoming LP, Retinal Bloom, out everywhere music is sold on May 26th.

EG Vines – “The Swim” (Song Premiere)

EG Vines

Today is a great day to share the new single from rock band EG Vines called “The Swim.” With a sound that sways somewhere between the blissful pop rock of the Gin Blossoms, to the lofty arena pop of Arctic Monkeys, EG Vines may just be one of the best kept secrets in rock. The bands shared:

’The Swim’ is a song about making yourself into the person you want to be, and finding a better path forward. Getting over that feeling of ‘not this shit again’ when you continually fuck things up and just can’t seem to get out of your own way. This song is that light bulb moment when you find a better way. As with most songs on our new album, Dance Moves, it started with the band in a room and stream-of-consciousness lyrics. John Rodrigue started this one out with an uptempo drumbeat and Ben Cunningham and I pushed our guitars to dirty-as-hell while I rattled off the melody.  Throw in a few hand claps and some background ‘ahhs’ and you’ve got a 3-minute, feel-good rock & roll song.

If you’ve been looking for that next great band that checks all the boxes, look no further than EG Vines.

This narrative side of music that isn’t only about angst and failed religion. This side of music that just feels classic–that transcends daily struggles and makes you want to go out on the weekend.” Get ready to discover music’s next big indie artist.

With a style that strays somewhere between Dr. Dog and Jason Isbell, Charlie & Margot are right on the cusp of greatness. Matteo DeBenedetti shared, “‘Sleeping’ is written about facing up to the idea that sometimes putting your trust in other people can ultimately end up being a bad thing for you, and sometimes it’s best to take matters into your own hands. In this instance, it’s very specifically regarding being a musician, being involved with other people as a touring musician (as a grown adult) at a DIY level, and navigating all the nuances that come with that.” Charlie & Margot may just be the next great musical discovery.

SWIMM – “Talk To Me” (Song Premiere)

SWIMM

Today I’m excited to share with everyone the new single and lyric video from SWIMM, called “Talk To Me.” This psych-pop artist does a nice job of re-capturing the spirit of the 80’s, all paired with anthemic moments in the chorus. SWIMM shared:

I made a promo video for this song where I dressed as Jesus–getting a spray tan. I’m still figuring out why I did that, but I felt the inspiration for the song–being my ponderings about the polyamorous nature of nuns marrying Jesus–fit with modern LA dating styles and thus, Jesus would probably get his hair cut high n’ tight, get some flash tattoos, and make sure he had regularly scheduled spray tans. I hear Raya is awfully competitive, so our anointed one wouldn’t be playing games with these nuns–or maybe he would be? Or he would just identify as poly-something-or-other and it would all work out just fab.

The song comes from the band’s upcoming LP, Best Comedown Ever, out everywhere music is sold on August 10th.

It’s like you’ve expressed yourself so many times that it no longer has an impact.
