Parris Mitchell – “Your Only” (Video Premiere)

Today is a great day to share indie-pop star, Parris Mitchell, and his new lyric video for “Your Only.” This New York-based singer-songwriter channels the best parts of the pop genre in this crowd-pleasing new single. On the track, Mitchell shared:

I wanted this song to feel like the tension before a kiss. Being in between who you were before and after it. Not love gained or lost but the middle child of the two. I had the most fun writing this one, the songs that pour out immediately usually are. There’s a lot of elements to this song that excite me, especially the ripping saxophones paired with the 80’s-esque drums. I love this song deeply and I hope you can hear that through its soaring vocals and production.

If you’re ready to take the next step in joining Parris Mitchell in his musical evolution, there’s no better time than now. I was also able to catch up with the artist for a brief interview.

What made you choose this track as the final single off your newest LP? What is its significance to you amidst the themes shown on this full release?

This was actually the last track written and it was one of those songs that when you are lucky enough just pours right out of you when writing. I usually take that as a good sign and it’s the kind of song I always wanted to create. There’s an angst to it that I resonate with. A lot of my music tends to sit in the middle of two different themes or feelings. I don’t usually write on absolutes and this song is very much about the “maybe” and maybe always excites me.

With regard to your upcoming NYC show, which of your tracks are you most excited to play live?

I feel like that’s asking a parent who their favorite child is! I’m excited to play all of them. I know where my head was and return to those feelings and ideas every time I sing them. I love how these songs are turning out in regards to their live sound and I couldn’t be more thrilled to share them with everyone soon.

What’s in store regarding the future of Parris Mitchell? Are you working on anything new?

If people keep enjoying the music as they are then I’m going to keep putting more out. I have so many songs in me. I’m hoping to tour soon. When and where is TBD. But in the meantime I can promise there will be much more music.
