PHNTMS – “Coastline” (Song Premiere)

PHNTMS

Today is a perfect day to share the latest single from PHNTMS, called “Coastline.” On this electric-charged track, PHNTMS play off of their pop rock influences and bring something incredibly exciting into the mix. The band shared about the song:

’Coastline’ is a song about letting go of your current situation and moving on to what is best for you and your life. Taking a chance to be with the one you love forever. It was inspired by the story of how I left the East Coast to move to Los Angeles to be with my girlfriend, who ended up becoming my wife. It was recorded by producer Courtney Ballard (All Time Low, 5 Seconds to Summer, Grayscale). ‘Coastline’ is a part of a collection of songs to make an EP about moving to the West Coast. ‘Coastline’ was written by Adam Jessamine and April Rose Gabrielli, who sings on the track.

I was able to catch up with the band for a brief interview below.

What was the lyrical and sonic inspiration for “Coastline”?

”Coastline” is a song about letting go of your current situation and moving on to what is best for you and your life. Taking a chance to be with the one you love forever. When April Rose Gabrielli and I wrote the song we wanted to write about something really positive, rather than just singing about drunken nights and cheating scandals. It was inspired by the story of my long distance relationship and how I left the East Coast to move to Los Angeles to be with my girlfriend, who ended up becoming my wife. It was recorded by producer Courtney Ballard (All Time Low, 5 Seconds to Summer, Grayscale). “Coastline” is a part of a collection of songs to make an EP about moving to the West Coast.

Who are some of the band’s biggest musical influences? How do you see those influences show up throughout your discography?

Our biggest influence with these new songs are the 80’s and all things nostalgic and anthemic choruses, like always. Bands and artists such as The Night Game, The Midnight, Ollie Wride, Josh Dally. Anything synth-pop and night-pop. As well as The Chain Gang of 1974 who we just recently worked with on the previous single, “Heat of the Moment”. The tones and production influences 100% show up through our songs.

Can we expect more new music from PHNTMS soon? Any tours, albums, or music videos coming up?

There will definitely be new singles rolling out every few months till the end of the year. We have everything finished for 2023, and are working on a bigger collection of music for 2024 that we are very excited about. There will be two music videos coming as well to pair up with some of the songs coming out. There will 100% be East coast and West coast dates that are in the works.
