Taylor Acorn – “Burning House” (Song Premiere)

Today I’m thrilled to bring everyone an early listen to the new single by Taylor Acorn called “Burning House.” The track comes from the recently announced deluxe version of Survival In Motion that hits streaming services tomorrow. “When I was dreaming up Survival In Motion, I always envisioned it having an extended life and so I’m so excited to be able to continue the story,” Taylor reflects. “I am so proud of the whole body of work that we have created and it was such a pivotal project for myself as a writer, as an artist, and as a human. It was something I truly needed at that time and I’ll forever cherish the experience of getting to create it.” If you’re enjoying the early listen to the single, please consider pre-saving Survival In Motion (Deluxe) here.

You mentioned that Survival in Motion was a pivotal project for you as a writer, artist, and human. Can you elaborate on how the process of creating and now expanding this album helped shape your personal and creative growth?

I think what it really came down to was the fact that I got to write it with my best friends. The whole process felt different than previous projects, it felt natural, I felt more confident in who I am as an artist and my sound and I was able to be creatively free. We didn’t second guess any decisions, it just happened and every song came together so effortlessly. Writing a whole album versus singles also is a whole new ball game, the task feels so daunting and especially so when you have to create a full body of work and songs that compliment one another. I learned I could do it and now moving forward with writing I just feel that confidence.

”Burning House” has been with you since 2022, and you’ve said the timing finally felt right to release it now. What about this moment in your career made it the right time to share that song with the world?

I think as far as when I wrote the song versus now kind of leads back to the confidence I had and now do have in my artistry.  I always knew I wanted it to come out, but like anything I wanted it to be perfect and a lot changes in 3 years. My whole creative process and my abilities as a writer have evolved so much and I knew back then that I needed to grow a little bit before we fully tackled it. At that time too it was only a verse and a chorus, I think waiting until I matured a little bit to finish it was what I needed to do and I’m very thankful I did because I would have been super sad if I released it prematurely and couldn’t fix or add things that I wish I could have. I’m so happy with how it turned out.

You’re hitting major festivals like Warped Tour and When We Were Young this year, and embarking on a national tour. How are you preparing emotionally and physically for such a high-energy, high-profile summer, and what are you most excited for on the road?

I’ve definitely been taking a bit more time to focus on me this time around. Making sure I’m eating right and exercising, keeping spirits high and stress free as much as they can be. I’m mostly excited to get back together with my band because I love them they are my family. I can’t wait to see everyone, but this also has been my longest amount of time at home so I’m a bit nervous of if I even remember how to perform. I have no doubt it’s going to be incredible though and I’m ready to get back out there!
