Merry Christmas

Gift

I just wanted to take a moment to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and happy holidays. I hope everyone is having a wonderful day and enjoying some good food and drinks. We will be on a more relaxed posting schedule over the next few days, as the music industry is basically in hibernation right now. All of us are working on finalizing our best of the year lists and we’ll have those to share with you the week of January 6th.

I know the holidays can also be a difficult time for many, just know that our community is here for you and there’s a bunch of resources online if you need someone to talk to.

Trent Reznor Talks With Revolver

Trent Reznor

Trent Reznor talked with Revolver in a new interview:

Speaking to his and Ross’ work for TV and film, Reznor revealed that the duo completed “an avant-garde score” for the Joe Wright–directed movie The Woman in the Window, starring Amy Adams and due to hit theaters in May 2020. But the film “underwent a transformation after some testing audiences,” according to Reznor, and so the two decided to “bow out.” “There’s no animosity on our end,” he added. “It’s frustrating when you did that much work and it’s gone. And we were proud — and they were proud — of the movie that it was.”

Interview: Michael Barrios

Michael Barrios

Michael Barrios is in his San Diego bedroom, sitting by the window. His long-time partner, Daisy is beside him. Above her head are polaroid pictures tracing their four-year-long relationship. All of Barrios’ musical equipment is scattered across the floor, including his newest synth pad. There’s a disco ball above the bed. He’s a softly spoken, passionate man, and it’s been two years since his last interview.

It’s been three and a half years since the release of Barrios’ debut album under the No Hope Kids moniker, Our Time Apart. Next year will see the unconventional young artist make his return. With this upcoming release, he’s changing the name – although, he hasn’t gained much hope. Planning this currently unnamed new project (there are some cool album titles in play), returning to being in a long-distance relationship, and juggling full-time jobs with it all hasn’t been easy. But you can count on those experiences popping up throughout the album.

Harry Styles Tops the Charts

Harry Styles

Harry Styles has the number one album in the country.

The set, which was released on Dec. 13 via Erskine/Columbia Records, earned 478,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending Dec. 19, according to Nielsen Music. That figure marks the biggest week for a pop album by a male artist in over four years, the largest week for a Columbia album in more than three years, and the third-biggest week overall for any album in 2019. It also scores the largest sales week for an album by a solo U.K. male artist since Nielsen Music began electronically tracking sales data in 1991.
