It’s always nice to hear new voices in the music scene. Whether it’s a new band taking the world by storm, or in the case of Cassie Dasilva, an indie-pop artist that has a sugary sweet delivery to make you take notice. “Part of the Club” is a great introduction to the sound and world that Dasilva is creating with her music. As she puts it, “‘part of the club’ is my anti-love love song. I’ve always had an aversion to conventional relationships – specifically marriage – but this song is about finding the person who makes you stop and think, ‘I can see why people might do all this.’” By taking a long hard look at why relationships can be so complex, Cassie Dasilva makes a memorable step in the right direction with her latest single.
The song starts off cautiously with Dasilva’s vulnerable delivery of her vocals, but she quickly finds her strength in her music behind some great guitar riffing and a memorable chorus. The music video is a fun play on pop princesses, while establishing herself as a name to watch in the music scene as we start 2024. Dasilva mentioned, “The video is a fun depiction of how I’ve felt traditional relationship norms being forced on me over the years. In the last chorus of the song, everything is deconstructed/wheeled off set and we’re left with an empty stage as I walk off into the darkness with my boyfriend. It reflects that we can do our own thing and it can be whatever we want it to be without all the fuss and pressure.” Dasilva is certainly making her time in the spotlight a worthy one, and I’m excited for what the future holds for her.
