Recently I was able to connect with Taylor Acorn to discuss what went into the writing and recording process of her newly announced EP, Greener (Acoustic). The EP hits streaming services tomorrow, but we are thrilled to bring everyone the exclusive premiere of the two-track acoustic collection today. Featuring songs from Acorn’s thrilling debut, Survival In Motion, this EP gets to the core of what makes her such a talented songwriter. Taylor shared:
”Greener” has been one of those songs that has just gotten me through. I needed to write it, I needed to feel it, and I know there’s two versions already, but I am a sucker for an acoustic. There’s something that’s just so sweet and uplifting about the acoustic, and I’m really excited for everyone to hear it.
If you’re enjoying the early listen, you can also pre-save the EP here.
You’ve had such a whirlwind year with sold-out tours and festival appearances—how does it feel to wrap up 2024 with this stripped-down EP, Greener (Acoustic)?
It’s really exciting honestly. I feel like everything I’ve done this year has been so high energy so to be able to almost nod back to my old self when it was just my guitar and I is awesome and I haven’t released anything strictly piano or acoustic in a really long time. These songs are so special too to me too, so I’m glad to book end them this way.
What made you choose “Greener” and “People Watching” specifically for this acoustic release? Was there something about these tracks that made them perfect for this format?
Like I said before these songs are so special to me, they are actually my two favorites off of the album – “Greener” in particular. I just knew I wanted them to have alternate versions where they feel more vulnerable and sweet. “People Watching” lyrically to me makes such a great wedding song so I wanted to have a really simple production that if people wanted to walk down the isle to it and celebrate their love they can and I just love “Greener” so much, I’d put out 1000 different versions of that song if I could!
Looking back on 2024, what have been some of the highlights for you, both personally and professionally?
This entire year has been a highlight if I’m being completely honest. This year has been incredible, I’ve gotten to meet and tour with so many incredible people, I released my first full length record, and I feel like I’ve learned so much about myself as a human. I’ve had a lot of difficult hills to climb, but I’m climbing them and I’m just really grateful for every opportunity that’s come so far.
As you head into 2025, what’s next for Taylor Acorn? Are there any new projects or goals you’re excited to share with your fans?
I am aiming towards a lot of new music and touring of course! There are a lot of cool things we are working towards so I think 2025 is going to be a really great year!
