On the new album from the South Jersey/Philadelphia band Out of Service, they do a great job of encapsulating the feelings of living with depression, getting help, and coming to terms with living with a mental illness. The wide range of emotions that a person can go through when they realize they aren’t “feeling right” can be both shocking and heartbreaking at the same time, and Out of Service realizes this is a process. In fact, as a person like me who struggles with depression from time to time, Burden spoke to me more than I thought it would from the very first listen.

The Wonder Years Share Acoustic “We Look Like Lightning”

The Wonder Years

The Wonder Years will release Burst & Decay, Volume II on February 14th. Today they’ve shared the acoustic rendition of “We Look Like Lightning” and did a Q&A about the album with Brooklyn Vegan.

I think it let us understand the goals of making something like this more. We didn’t want to just play the songs on different guitars and call it new; we really wanted to work to reinvent them. We wanted to find interesting ways to subvert expectation and keep you on your toes a little while still remaining pretty true to the original version which is a fine line to walk but a fun one.
