The lineup for the When We Were Young festival has been announced. You can find all the artists below and tickets are on sale now. The festival will take place April 8th and 9th at The Observatory in Santa Ana, California.
Stereo Hideout does these really cool mashups of classical music with pop music. And they’re not just remixes, but actual new arrangements played an orchestra and recorded. Some of my favorites are Copland v. Bon Iver, Brahms v. Radiohead, and Beethoven v. Coldplay.
Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies will release their greatest hits album, Rake It In: The Greatestest Hits, on April 7th. They’ve also announced some new tour dates, which can be found below.

“It’s probably not savvy to say this, but I’ve begun to admit that I like my older records better — and I know why,” he explains. “As time went on, people came along with good and different ideas, and one thing I kept hearing a lot is that lyrics don’t matter — and I think I’m not the right guy to say that to. They might be completely right, but that’s why I write songs. So this (upcoming) record, to me, is very much like the first three and a half records, where it’s just like — I have something to say, not just a nice thing to sing.”

I spoke with McMahon on the phone about the new record’s pop-leaning direction, his ever-evolving sound, the way family has defined his last few albums, and whether or not he’d ever consider writing a memoir. We also spoke briefly about next year’s 10-year anniversary of Jack’s Mannequin’s The Glass Passenger and whether or not fans can expect any special tours or reissues to mark the occasion.
